Abstract: A femtocell utilizing method and apparatus are disclosed. A mobile terminal may establish a communication channel to a microminiaturized base station for mobile communication creating a femtocell on the basis of a frequency, PSC information, or a frequency band or multiple frequencies. The mobile terminal employing the method and apparatus enables the user to initiate femtocell search at a desired point in time, increasing effectiveness in utilization of a femtocell.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for setting time information of an area in which a portable terminal, used in an asynchronous mobile communication system, is positioned. The apparatus includes a communicator for transmitting a time information setup request message to a Base Station (BS) and receiving a time information setup complete information from the BS, and a controller for generating the time information setup request message by changing a message type of a Mobility Management (MM) information message and setting the time information of the portable terminal using the time information setup complete message.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing service status information based on an access class restriction list in a mobile communication system. The method includes checking whether there is same information between the access class restriction list included in system information blocks that a user equipment receives from a network and access class restriction information pre-stored in the user equipment. The same information is provided when there is the same information. The same information is transmitted to a service end and/or displayed thereon.

The method for protecting against unauthorized use of a terminal operating with a subscriber identity module (SIM) card compares a secondary version of a temporary identity information stored in a storage unit and a primary version of the temporary identity information stored in the SIM card; sends a message containing a unique identity information to a network when the primary version and the secondary version of the temporary identity information differ from each other; and restricts operation of a function of the terminal when a registration reject message is received in response to the message containing the unique identity information.
