  • Publication number: 20060038724
Abstract: A small planar antenna with an enhanced bandwidth and a small rectenna for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and wireless sensor transponder are provided. The small planar antenna includes a dielectric substrate, a metal layer formed on an upper part of the dielectric substrate, a main slot formed in pattern on the metal layer, and a plurality of sub-slots connected to the main slot and winding in a specified direction, and the plurality of sub-slots form a pair of symmetric sub-slot groups around the main slot. According to the small planar antenna, the antenna region that substantially takes part in the radiation is substantially increased, and thus an enhanced bandwidth can be obtained without affecting the radiation pattern, radiation efficiency, polarization purity, etc., of the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20060038725
Abstract: A planar small antenna and a small strip radiator are provided which have increased bandwidth. The small strip radiator has a main strip pattern and a plurality of convoluted strip patterns terminating the main strip pattern at each end. The plurality of convoluted strip patterns are arranged in mirror-symmetrical arrangement with reference to the longitudinal axis of the main strip such that one pair of convoluted strip patterns is convoluted clockwise while another pair is convoluted counterclockwise. As a result, an electrically small antenna radiator requires less metal or conductive material than conventional radiators, and also can operate without adversely affecting the radiation characteristics of the antenna.

  • Publication number: 20050276307
Abstract: Disclosed are a temperature measurement apparatus and method for measuring temperature by using RF signals having different frequencies. The temperature measurement apparatus includes a parameter generation unit for generating a first parameter based on a radio frequency (RF) signal having a first frequency and a second parameter based on an RF signal having a second frequency; a parameter detection unit for detecting the generated first and second parameters; and a control unit for calculating a temperature value based on the detected first and second parameters. Accordingly, the temperature measurement apparatus can measure temperature by use of existing components and received RF signals without any addition of a temperature sensor, as well as measure temperature precisely without having any influence on the intensities of RF signals that can vary due to the changes of transmission distances and signal-receiving environments.

  • Publication number: 20050269658
Abstract: An integrated circuit structure in which a plurality of Schottky diodes and a capacitor are integrally formed. The integrated circuit structure includes a substrate including an N-type semiconductor doped with N-type impurities and a P-type semiconductor doped with P-type impurities; a first conductive layer laminated on the substrate so that the first conductive layer is electrically connected to the N-type semiconductor and the P-type semiconductor; a dielectric layer laminated on an upper surface of the first conductive layer; and a second conductive layer laminated on an upper surface of the dielectric layer so that the second conductive layer forms a capacitor together with the first conductive layer and the dielectric layer. Accordingly, when the integrated circuit structure is used in a rectification circuit, the size of an entire circuit can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050270153
Abstract: A radio frequency identification tag, used in a radio frequency identification system, includes an antenna unit for receiving an external magnetic wave to generate an induced current; a driving voltage generating unit for converting the induced current into a constant voltage and outputting the constant voltage; and a state detecting unit for detecting information about a change in an operational state of the driving voltage generating unit. The tag further includes a memory for storing temperature data corresponding to the information about the change in the operational state and data needed for identification; and a controlling unit for reading out, from the memory, the temperature data dependent on the information about the change in the operational state detected by the state detecting unit and the identification data. The read temperature and identification data are transmitted via an antenna unit.

  • Patent number: 5620150
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting tension of a magnetic tape includes a clutch roller, which rotates in contact with one side of the tape and has a friction torque of a predetermined amount, and a low friction roller, which rotates in close contact to the other side of the tape, between a supply reel for feeding the tape and a drum. Accordingly, the tape tension servo apparatus can be more simply constructed. A constant tape tension can be always maintained irrespective of the rotation variation of the supply reel and an amount of the remaining tape.

  • Patent number: 5555141
Abstract: An apparatus, for detecting the starting or ending portion of a tape, has a detector for detecting the starting portion or the ending portion of the tape wound on a take-up reel and a supply reel of a cassette. The apparatus includes a first guide installed on at least one side adjacent to the tape inlet/outlet opening of the cassette to be loaded, and which is in contact with a recording surface of the tape. A second guide is fixed so as to be electrically insulated from the first guide, and is in contact with a recording surface of the tape. A voltage applying circuit is provided for applying a predetermined voltage level across the first and second guides. The starting portion or the ending portion of the tape is detected depending on the presence or absence of electrical current between the first and second guides.
