An apparatus includes a controller configured to determine at least one redundant fingerprint overlapping a fingerprint corresponding to at least one chunk of the first packet in a fingerprint set cache, determine a fingerprint set including the most redundant fingerprint in the fingerprint set cache, and determine at least one fingerprint to send in the determined fingerprint set.
