  • Patent number: 6536222
Abstract: An air conditioning unit having a return air inlet and a supply air outlet upon the roof of a vehicle that includes a mounting frame located within an opening in the roof of a vehicle with the frame extending into the comfort region of said vehicle, with said comfort region having a front and rear section. The air conditioning unit is supported upon the top of the frame so that the return air inlet and supply air outlet are in fluid flow communication with the interior of said frame, which is enclosed at the bottom by a floor panel. A partition extends across the width of the frame dividing the frame into a return air compartment that communicates with the return air inlet of the air conditioning unit and a supply air compartment that communicates with the supply air outlet of the air conditioning unit. Longitudinal supply ducts are mounted in the opposed end walls of said frame and are in direct fluid flow communication with the frame supply air compartment.

  • Patent number: 6339934
Abstract: Apparatus for mounting an air conditioning unit upon the roof of a vehicle for providing conditional air to the interior of the vehicle. A frame is contained within an opening formed in the roof and the unit is mounted upon the frame so that the supply air opening and the return air opening of the unit communicate with the interior of the frame. A one-piece floor panel is contained in the frame upon which an adjustable partition is seated which divides the interior of the frame into two separate compartments. The base of the partition is secured to the floor panel and a movable top section is closed against the pan of the unit so that the supply air can move through one compartment and return air through the other compartment. The top section of the partition is adjustable and is furnished with thick resilient seals so that the mounting frame can be utilized in vehicles having different roof depths.

  • Patent number: 6302780
Abstract: A ceiling grille for directing conditioned air from an air conditioning unit mounted upon the roof of a motor vehicle wherein comfort air is delivered into a plenum located inside the vehicle. The plenum has front and rear deflector vanes rotatably mounted therein for directing comfort air into the passenger compartment. Each vane has a rocker arm that is connected through suitable linkage to a cam follower. Each cam follower, in turn, rides on the cam face of a motor driven cam. The profile of the cam face is contoured to position the two vanes to control the direction of comfort air flow into the passenger compartment.
