Abstract: An apparatus and method for efficiently compressing three-dimensional stereoscopic images are provided. The apparatus and method include a search for Global motion between left and right images input through two image input units mounted in a mobile communication terminal. The images are arranged and a difference between the two images is computed. The images are compressed using the difference between the two images and a reference image. Accordingly, because the left and right images are similar, a computation amount can be reduced since the global motion is computed only once.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of setting a recording end reservation time for instant recording in a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) of a received digital broadcast. The method includes steps of selecting an instant recording function, creating an OSD window for displaying at least one preset invariable recording end reservation time to display the preset invariable recording end reservation time, analyzing PSIP information from the received digital broadcast and extracting “available program information” including information about a time to terminate the digital broadcast program intended to be recorded at present, setting the recording end reservation time through the OSD window when the “available program information” does not exist, and adding to the OSD window a setup item to enable setting by a user of a recording end reservation time, and setting the recording end reservation time through the OSD window having the added setup item when the “available program information” exists.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system and method for controlling home appliances using a short message service. When receiving a short message including an access code from a mobile terminal, the home server checks the status of the connected home appliances and sends a short message including control codes corresponding to the status of the home appliances to the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal checks the control codes to confirm the status of the home appliances, and displays corresponding images. When the user requests to control the status of a specific home appliance, the mobile terminal automatically generates a corresponding short message and sends the short message to the home server. The home server checks the message, controls the corresponding home appliance, and then sends a short message including current status information of the controlled home appliance to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: Disclosed is a video calling method capable of providing video through a separate display over a VoIP network, which can transfer IP information of a specified display device to a mobile communication terminal, and provide video data transfer for a video call through the specified display device. According to the video calling method, a first mobile communication terminal connects a video calling service with a second mobile communication terminal, and receives a request to change a device for transmitting/receiving the video to/from the second mobile communication terminal to a separate display. The first mobile communication terminal transfers information about the display to the second mobile communication terminal, and controls the second mobile communication terminal to transmit/receive the video to/from the display.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for displaying a relevant message in a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal determines whether there is a message relevant to a message that it wants to store. When there is a relevant message, the mobile terminal groups the message it desires to store and the relevant message, and stores the grouped messages. When there is a request for displaying a message relevant to a displayed message while displaying the message on a screen, the mobile terminal displays the requested relevant message on the screen, so that a user can check the relevant messages without the need to separately search an incoming message box and/or an outgoing message box.

Abstract: A method for providing a user interface configured using three frames for a Digital Media Player (DMP) in a Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) system. Each of all source, renderer, and menu items of the DLNA system is set to one axis of a set of axes. Two predetermined axes of the set of axes and a contents list are selected according to selection by a DMP user of an operation to be performed within the DLNA system. A user interface of the DMP is configured using two frames for displaying the two predetermined axes and one frame for displaying the contents list.

Abstract: A communication system and method for securely and efficiently sharing a link key for security and authentication in a ZigBee network. Upon receipt of an access request from an end device, a trust center sends a public key to the end device, and upon receipt of the public key, the end device encrypts an arbitrary key using the public key, and sends the encrypted arbitrary key to the trust center. The trust center generates a link key using the arbitrary key, and sends the link key to the end device.

Abstract: Provided is a method of efficiently processing a Short-Term Key Message (STKM) in the mobile broadcast supporting the mobile terminal. A structure of a response message according to processing the STKM in the smart card is also provided. In particular, a variety of information necessary for reproducing in the player is included in the response message and delivered to the mobile terminal, thereby the mobile terminal can easily obtain the desired information through the response message. Therefore, when the STKM is processed in the mobile terminal, there is no need to process operations except for a resending check, and the information does not need to be stored separately.

Abstract: An apparatus and method enabling a user to easily confirm a moving image. An apparatus for displaying thumbnails displays moving image clips in the form of thumbnails, and automatically plays a moving image corresponding to the thumbnail, on which an indicator is positioned, in accordance with a shift of the indicator. Also, if a key for adjusting the number of thumbnails displayed on a screen is input, the number of thumbnails displayed and the arrangement of the thumbnails are adjusted in accordance with the input of the adjustment key. In this case, a playback of the moving image corresponding to the thumbnail on which the indicator is positioned is maintained without interruption, and only the arrangement of the remaining thumbnail is changed.

Abstract: A system and a method of Zigbee communication for actively selecting and accessing a Zigbee network. The Zigbee communication system includes multiple Zigbee coordinators forming multiple Zigbee networks for transmitting information on services of end-devices currently accessing each of the formed multiple Zigbee networks; and an end-device for receiving the information on the services, analyzing the received information on the services, selecting a predetermined one of the multiple Zigbee networks based on results of the analysis, and accessing the selected Zigbee network. Accordingly, the end-device can search services provided by other end-devices over a Zigbee network without gaining access to the Zigbee network, thereby reducing unnecessary resource consumption and wasted time caused by accessing and exiting each Zigbee network by a conventional end-device for service search.

The image display method includes, if there is a multi-image display request for previously stored multiple images, determining a preset number of simultaneously-displayed images; decoding each of as many images as the number of simultaneously-displayed images among the multiple images, and adjusting a size of the decoded images according to a predetermined display image size; and simultaneously displaying the decoded images on one frame according to an image arrangement pattern which is previously set as information indicating an arrangement rule for multiple images displayed on one frame.

Abstract: Provided is a character input method and apparatus for automatically switching an input mode in a terminal having a touch screen. If a press event occurs in one of key regions displayed in the touch screen, it is determined whether a drag event occurs prior to occurrence of a release event. According to whether the drag event occurs, one of a separate input mode for inputting one of characters of a corresponding character group and a text input mode for inputting a word including one of the characters of the character group is executed. Thus, a user can easily input a character by rapidly selecting a desired input mode.

The character input method includes assigning character groups, each of which includes at least two characters, to at least two key regions generated by dividing a region of the touch screen and displaying the character groups in the corresponding key regions, based on one-to-one correspondence, if a press event occurs in one of the key regions, enlarging and displaying characters included in the key region where the press event occurs, determining whether one of a release event and a drag event occurs in one of the key regions where the characters are displayed enlarged, if it is determined that the drag event occurs, indicating the key region where the drag event occurs according to distance and direction of the drag event, and if the release event occurs in the indicated key region, outputting characters included in the indicated key region on the touch screen.
