The optical element includes a light-transmitting base film; a plurality of diffusing cavities or convex diffusing structures formed in one surface of the base film to diffuse light entering the base film; and a light-condensing pattern formed in the surface of the base film where the diffusing cavities or convex diffusing structures are formed so as to condense incident light.

Abstract: An optical device which maintains luminance characteristics to the greatest extent, improves light-collecting effects, and realizes a wide viewing angle, and a backlight unit and an LCD including the same. The optical device includes a light-transmitting base film. A plurality of convex portions is formed on at least one surface of the base film, and microscopic optical patterns have peaks and valleys, which abut each other, on part of the convex portions. Alternatively, a plurality of third fine optical patterns is formed on at least one surface of the base film. A portion of each third fine optical patterns abutting the base film forms a figure having long and short axes. Each of the third fine optical patterns has a peak with a height that decreases from the center to both ends thereof along the long axis.

Abstract: Disclosed is a digital broadcast signal reception set-top box facilitating resolution settings for a digital broadcast signal. The set-top box has a receiver for receiving a digital broadcast signal, a resolution converter for converting the digital broadcast signal to a signal having a predetermined resolution value, an output part for outputting to an external display device the digital broadcast signal having the resolution value converted by the resolution converter, and a controller for controlling the resolution converter and the output part to sequentially output at predetermined time intervals the digital broadcast signal having the different resolution values and to output, in case that a selection command is inputted for the resolution value from external, the digital broadcast signal converted to a resolution value corresponding to the selection command.

Abstract: A device for receiving a digital broadcasting satellite (DBS) signal, includes a controller for generating a first signal for selecting a program guide signal included in the DBS signal and a second signal for selecting one of a plurality of programs which are included in the program guide signal, in response to input of certain key signals; a decoder for decoding the program guide signal in response to the first signal; a storing unit for separating and storing the decoded program guide signal as position data, channel data and video data; a signal compressing unit for compressing the video data corresponding to the second signal; a mixer for mixing the decoded program guide signal as a main screen signal with the compressed video data as a sub-screen signal; and a display unit for displaying the signals mixed by the mixer.
