  • Patent number: 6828270
Abstract: The supported catalyst according to the present invention comprises a support of organic or inorganic powder with a high-surface area, a polymer coated onto the support and a metallocene catalyst. The polymer (1) contains polar groups; (2) interacts with the surface of the support; and (3) is insoluble in the styrenic monomer or polymerization solvent during polymerization after the catalyst is loaded. The polymer is located between the support and the metallocene catalyst such that the polymer insulates the metallocene layer from the support layer to prevent poisoning of the metallocene catalyst layer by the support layer. The styrenic polymer powder such produced by the present invention has good flow-ability and good morphology demonstrating a great deal of industrial applicability.

  • Patent number: 6291385
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for polymerization or copolymerization of an olefin. The catalyst is produced by first reacting a mixture of a magnesium compound and an aluminum compound with an ester compound which has at least one hydroxy group and a silane compound which has at least one alkoxy group, and next reacting with a titanium compound. The catalyst may be used in the polymerization or copolymerization of ethylene and propylene.

  • Patent number: 6245865
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polymerization process for preparing syndiotactic polystyrenes, which comprises a step of microfluidizing in a microfluidization apparatus both a catalyst mixture consisting of a styrene monomer, a metallocene catalyst and an inert organic solvent and a cocatalyst mixture consisting of a styrene monomer, a cocatalyst and an inert organic solvent, and a step of reacting the microfluidized mixture with a catalyst and a cocatalyst in a reactor. The metallocene catalyst has a bridged structure of a complex of Group IV transition metals such as Ti, Zr, Hf etc. in the Periodic Table and a ligand having one or two cycloalkane dienyl groups such as cyclopentadienyl group, indenyl groups, fluorenyl group, and derivatives thereof. The reactor is a well stirred reactor equipped with agitating blades therein to mix the reactants well.

  • Patent number: 5369798
Abstract: The portable radio telephone performs the channel scanning for one of the two channel systems "A" and "B" divided from a cellular service band to select two channels with largest RSSIs. The main processor determines which one of the two channels receives the data, so as to tune the telephone to the channel that receives the data, and stands by. The main processor stops the operation during detecting word synchronization signal, thus saving the battery power.
