  • Patent number: 10717448
Abstract: Provided herein are system, method and/or computer program product embodiments for the automated transfer of control in autonomous vehicles. An embodiment operates by retrieving configuration information specifying one or more vehicle control transfer events associated with a vehicle and determining, based on at least one of sensor data or a communications network message, that a vehicle control transfer event has occurred. The system then determines that a vehicle operator is available to manually operate the vehicle and if so transfers control of the vehicle from an autonomous driving system to a manual vehicle operation interface or a remote vehicle operation interface.

  • Patent number: 10442439
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems and methods for obtaining real-time road friction coefficient estimations. In one embodiment, a regression function is learned using a training data set which correlates input data measurements arriving from onboard system sensors and coefficient estimations arriving from an extension system. In another embodiment, the learned regression function can be retrieved to obtain real-time road friction coefficient estimations while the system is in motion.

  • Patent number: 10262538
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for creating a database of pull-off areas for a vehicle based on aggregated pull-off information received from a plurality of vehicles and other sources. In one embodiment, the aggregated, crowd-sourced pull-off information may be available to a mobile device (such as an autonomous vehicle or mobile communication device) for reference by the device to understand the condition, location, and availability of potential pull-off areas near a roadway.

  • Patent number: 9675717
Abstract: The antifouling coating is a composite material consisting of fluorinated electroactive bipolymers and magnetic particles. This composite material is coated on a solid surface to make a smooth durable grassy coating. The coating generates electrical current when an electrolytic liquid flows over it, which prevents bacterial cells from attaching to the surface. It prevents virus and protein attachment. It also prevents chemical corrosion of a surface. The composite material itself, and the antifouling method that uses fluoride compounds and electrical current that is generated by the fluid flow are disclosed for a patent. The composite material can be applied to medical devices, biomedical devices, industrial equipment, ship's hulls, food processing equipment, food processors, drinking water distribution systems, and home electrical appliances.

  • Patent number: 7781972
Abstract: The present invention relates to a plasma display panel, particularly, to a plasma display panel equipped with an electrode structure which can perform readily a discharge between a scan electrode and a sustain electrode. A plasma display panel according to an aspect of the present invention comprises a front substrate comprising a scan electrode and a sustain electrode; and a rear substrate comprising a barrier rib for forming a discharge cell, wherein the scan electrode and the sustain electrode comprise a plurality of projecting electrode parts in the discharge cell. The present invention modifies the shape of the transparent electrode to broaden the discharge area, so that the luminous efficiency increases to improve a luminance. Moreover, since a stable and uniform discharge is generated, the white balance can be efficiently implemented. In addition, the unnecessary expensive ITO area is removed and the fabrication cost of the plasma display panel can be lowered.
