    Abstract: Pulse width modulating power supply circuitry is disclosed which manually or automatically controls the rail voltage setting of the amplifier circuitry. The maximum power rating of the amplifier will then be available to drive speakers with a pre-set impedance attached to the amplifier. A manual selection circuit provides a selector switch which places one or more resistors in parallel with a feedback resistor of a pulse width modulating controller which controls the setting of the rail voltages. In an automated mode the impedance of one of a set of speakers is measured at the time the amplifier is turned on and a resistor having a resistance appropriate to obtain maximum amplifier power output is placed in parallel with the feedback resistor in the pulse width modulating power supply controller by transformation circuitry. Light emitting diodes are wired into the resistor selection circuitry to provide an indication of circuit operation.
