  • Patent number: 5217215
Abstract: A sorter incorporating a stapler is an apparatus for sorting and stapling sheets discharged from an image forming apparatus. This sorter includes a plurality of vertically movable bins for storing the supplied sheets, a bin drive unit for conveying the bins, a stapler for stapling the sheets stored in the bins, a pair of lateral guides, and a lateral guide drive unit for moving the lateral guides. The lateral guides are movable in the width direction of the sheets in the bins and abut on both sides of stacks of the sheets to arrange them into widthwise adjustment, and then to move them into the stapling position of the stapler.

  • Patent number: 4851873
Abstract: A developing device includes a developing section provided with an applicator for applying a developer to a latent electrostatic image and a supporting section for supporting the developing section turnably between an operating position at which the developer held on the applicator acts on image-bearing member and a non-operating position at which the developer held on the applicator does not substantially act on the image-bearing member. According to a first aspect, positioning device acts on the developing section and holds it at the operating position. According to a second aspect, there is provided device for holding the developing section at the non-operating position at the time of mounting a main body of the developing device on an image-forming machine. According to a third aspect, when the main body of the developing device is mounted on the image-forming machine, electrical connecters provided thereon are electrically coupled to each other.

  • Patent number: 4521102
Abstract: A copy paper counting method for a copying apparatus including the steps of: counting the copy paper by means of a first counter; terminating the feed of the copy paper when the counting value stored in the first counter becomes equal to the preset number of the copy paper; counting the discharged copy paper by means of a second counter; and detecting paper jamming, and supplying the counting value of the second counter to the counting value of the first counter. It is not necessary to preset the number of required copies again after a jammed paper is expelled. Since the copying operation is continuously restarted, the preset number of copies are precisely reproduced.

  • Patent number: 4478506
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus wherein a stationary original document image is projected onto a photosensitive member during movement of an optical device for exposing, and an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member is transferred onto a copy sheet and is fixed, comprising (a) a jam detecting means for immediately detecting a copy sheet being jammed on a transport path; and (b) a cleaning device for removing residual toner particles remaining on the photosensitive member by means of magnetic force and for storing the removed toner particles after transferring operation. According to this invention, an occurrence of jam is detected immediately, and thus a fault or an accident of the electrostatic copying apparatus due to jam is prevented from expanding.

  • Patent number: 4386845
Abstract: An electrostatic copying apparatus is provided wherein a stationary original document image is projected onto a photosensitive member during movement of an optical device for exposure. An electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member is transferred onto a copy sheet and is fixed. A jam detecting means is provided for immediately detecting a copy sheet being jammed along a transport path. A cleaning device removes residual toner particles remaining on the photosensitive member by means of magnetic force and stores the removed toner particles after a transferring operation. The occurrence of a jam is detected immediately, and thus a fault or an accident of the electrostatic copying apparatus due to the jam is prevented from continuing.
