  • Patent number: 9463065
Abstract: A method is disclosed for treating a living body tissue by cauterizing a sympathetic nerve around a renal artery to block a neurotransmission function of the sympathetic nerve. The method includes inserting a balloon catheter including a balloon on a distal end side of a shaft into a body cavity, and delivering the balloon to the renal artery; inflating the balloon that has been delivered to the renal artery; puncturing a blood vessel wall with at least one protrusive member disposed on an outer surface of the balloon when the balloon is inflated; and after puncturing the blood vessel wall with the protrusive member, cauterizing the sympathetic nerve within a region at a periphery of an electrode disposed on a projecting tip end portion of the protrusive member by supplying a current to the electrode.

  • Patent number: 9248256
Abstract: A medical treatment device enables an injection needle to accurately puncture brain tissue at a prescribed position and a drug solution to be injected into brain tissue, while avoiding damage to the brain tissue as the injection needle is handled. The use of the medical treatment device involves inflating a first balloon located on the outside of a catheter, directing a distal portion of a puncture needle, which is located inside the catheter, to outside the catheter through an opening in the catheter, after which the first balloon is deflated and a second balloon is inflated, and moving the catheter towards the brain tissue located on the opening side so that the injection needle projecting from the opening punctures the brain region.

  • Patent number: 9107687
Abstract: A sinusitis treatment device includes: a flexible first elongated body to be guided into an accessory; an imaging unit which is provided on the first elongated long body, for obtaining an image on the front side of a distal end of the first elongated body; a flexible second elongated body having a lumen in which the first elongated body is inserted; an expansive body which is provided on the second elongated body and which has an effective expansive section capable of radial expansive deformation within a natural ostium located between a nasal cavity and an accessory nasal cavity to push open a stenosed part of the natural ostium; and a positioning unit which is provided on the second elongated body, for positioning the effective expansive section of the second elongated long body moved along the first elongated body relative to the first elongated body.

  • Patent number: 8936613
Abstract: A medical device is configured to position a bag member filled with a therapeutic substance in a prescribed region of the brain. The use of this medical device involves, with a sheath inserted in the brain region, filling a therapeutic substance into a bag member through an infusion tube, followed by retracting the sheath relative to the infusion tube until the bag member protrudes forward beyond the distal end of the sheath. After this, the bag member is put indwelling in the brain region by moving an operating member relative to the infusion tube to detach the bag member from the distal end of the infusion tube.

  • Publication number: 20130296853
Abstract: A balloon catheter is provided with a balloon on the tip of a main shaft. The balloon catheter is provided with: protruding parts that are furnished on the outer surface of the balloon and protrude outward from the outer surface of the balloon at least when the balloon is expanded; and electrodes that are furnished on the leading edges of the protruding parts in the direction of protrusion and are capable of transmitting energy to living tissue. The leading edge electrodes can thereby be delivered near the desired site of treatment by thrusting the protruding parts into living tissue and, in this configuration, energy is transmitted to said treatment site.

  • Publication number: 20120253123
Abstract: An otorhinolaryngological treatment device includes: a flexible elongated body to be introduced into an accessory nasal cavity through a nasal cavity; an expansion body which is provided on the elongated body and has an effective expansive section capable of radial expansive deformation within a natural ostium between the nasal cavity and the accessory nasal cavity to thereby force open a stenosed part of the natural ostium; and imaging unit for obtaining an image on the front side of a distal end of the elongated body, which is provided integrally with the elongated body on the distal side of the elongated body relative to the expansion body. The treatment device enables easy positioning (aligning) of the expansion body inside the nasal cavity, without need for radioscopy.
