  • Patent number: 11562557
Abstract: An example electronic system is described in which an imaging device includes a lens and an image sensor. The imaging device is aligned with an optical target. The optical target includes a text character of a defined text size. An image capturer activates the imaging device to capture an electronic image of the optical target. The electronic image includes the text character of the optical target. An optical recognizer generates an optical recognition result for the character based on the captured electronic image. A sharpness detector compares the optical recognition result with a true value of the text character included in the optical target. Based on the comparison, a designated or defined text size is selected as a designated resolution. The designated resolution is then associable with the imaging device, the optical target, the electronic image, or a component thereof.

  • Publication number: 20210264639
Abstract: An example non-transitory machine-readable storage medium includes instructions to determine whether a light source associated with a camera has a defect. When executed, the instructions cause a processor of a computing device to cause the light source associated with the camera to emit light toward a reflective test surface to illuminate the reflective test surface, the light source integrated with the camera to emit light during normal operation of the camera. The instructions further cause the processor to cause the camera to capture an image of the reflective test surface illuminated by the light source. The instructions further cause the processor to analyze the captured image to determine whether the light source has a defect. The instructions further cause the processor to output an indication of the defect when determined.

  • Patent number: 10958899
Abstract: In an example, a computing device extracts a first pre-defined region of interest (ROI), a second pre-defined ROI, and a third pre-defined ROI from an image captured by the imaging device. Further, a first signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), second SNR, and a third SNR is calculated for the first, the second, and the third pre-defined ROIs respectively. The computing device computes a variance of the first SNR with respect to the second SNR and the third SNR, the second SNR with respect to the third SNR and the first SNR, and the third SNR with respect to the first SNR and the second SNR. Based on the variance, a pre-defined weight is associated with the first SNR, the second SNR, and the third SNR to obtain weighted SNR values. Based on the weighted SNR values, the computing device evaluates the dynamic range of the imaging device.
