    Abstract: A recognition system and method for recognizing handwriting on an electronic device are provided. The recognition system includes a processor configured to execute instructions stored in a memory for: creating handwriting in response to a handwriting input; displaying the created handwriting on a user interface of the electronic device; defining a first planar coordinate system on the user interface; determining the electronic device is rotated if a rotation angle is larger than a predetermined value; defining a second planar coordinate system on the user interface; identifying a coordinate of each touched point of the handwriting in the second planar coordinate system; recognizing the handwriting according to the coordinate and retrieving one or more first characters or words matching the handwriting; and displaying the retrieved one or more first characters or words on the user interface.

    Abstract: A method for zooming in content displayed on a touch screen comprises detecting the touch track of a touch on the touch screen and determining whether the touch track encloses a graphic. A current display mode of the touch screen when the touch track does enclose a graphic is identified and the content within the bounds of the enclosed graphic according to the current display mode of the touch screen is magnified. An electronic device using the above method is also provided.

    Abstract: A method for transition between sequential pages displayed by an electronic device which runs a slideshow presentation application program such as Microsoft® PowerPoint. The method includes the steps as follows. Generate input signals from a user tracing a simple shape with his fingertip on the screen. Identify the traced shape. The type of transition display property which is associated with the predefined shape is acquired when the traced and identified shape is substantially similar to a predefined shape stored in the storage unit. The transition to next displayed page is displayed with the acquired type of display transition property. A related electronic device is also provided.

    Abstract: A text reading guide method for an electronic device including a display screen and a storage unit is provided. The storage unit stores a database recording a number of feature values of images and a plurality of coordinates. Each set of coordinates corresponds to a display region and is associated with a feature value. The method includes the steps of capturing an image of finger of a user; extracting a finger image feature value from the captured finger image; searching the database to find a matching finger image feature value, and retrieving the coordinates associated with the finger image feature value; determining the display content on the display region corresponding to the retrieved coordinates; and displaying the determined contents in a manner of highlighting on the display screen. An electronic device using the method is also provided.
