    Abstract: A base station for a communication system and a handoff method thereof are provided. The base station comprises a transceiver and a processor. The transceiver receives a measurement report message with a present reference signal received quality from a wireless device. The processor electrically connected to the transceiver calculates a next report period, estimates a next reference signal received quality and adjusts a first threshold according to a variance of a reference signal received quality. The processor further enables the transceiver to transmit a first measurement control message to the wireless device according to the next report period. The handoff decision process is triggered based on the first threshold and the next reference signal received quality.

The base station connects to a mobile apparatus via a network, and exchanges data with the mobile apparatus during a data transmission interval. The base station records a sleep cycle interval which comprises a sleep interval and a listening interval. The base station determines a sleep ratio relation, a transmission efficiency relation and a packet delay relation according to the sleep interval, listening interval and data transmission interval. The base station determines a sleep interval value based on the sleep ratio relation, transmission efficiency relation and packet delay relation so that the base station exchanges the non-real time data with the mobile apparatus, while saving energy and transmitting data efficiently.

    Abstract: A mobile station and a power saving method thereof for a wireless communication system are provided. The wireless communication system comprises a base station and the mobile station. The mobile station stays in a sleep mode. The mobile station comprises a buffer, a transceiver, and a processor. The buffer is configured to temporarily store an uplink data packet. The transceiver is configured to receive a downlink traffic indication message during at least one listening interval. The processor, electrically connected to the transceiver and the buffer, is configured to determine that the downlink traffic indication message carries a non-having downlink data packet information to make the buffer continue to temporarily store the uplink data packet so that the mobile station continuously stays in the sleep mode.
