  • Patent number: 6754902
Abstract: An optical head driving mechanism is applied to an optical disc driver that has a base plate, a pair of guide rods and an optical module movably mounted on the guide rods. The driving mechanism includes a base, a movable member, a piezo-actuator and at least a resilient member. The piezo-actuator and the movable member generate proceeding waves at the rim of the piezo-actuator and move the optical module along the guide rods when the piezo-actuator activates.

  • Publication number: 20040066992
Abstract: A composite fluid dynamic bearing and its manufacturing method is disclosed. By machining a plurality of bearings independently, the grooves of each bearing have uniform slopes. Then the method of the invention combines the bearings, which have different slope of the grooves, to form a bearing module having pressure-generating grooves. In this way the precision of the machining grooves of bearings can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20040062176
Abstract: Only a pivot arm and a torsion spring are employed to open a shutter of a cartridge. Hence, a structure of a cartridge holder with such a cartridge opening mechanism is much simpler than the prior art. The pivot arm is employed to open the cartridge shutter when the cartridge is inserted into the cartridge holder. The torsion spring provides a restoring force to return the pivot arm back to a closed position when the cartridge is ejected. Adverse effects, which are generated during a rotation of a disc in the prior art cartridge opening mechanism, can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6703736
Abstract: A magnetic bearing includes a base, a spindle rotatably mounted onto the base and a magnetic portion mounted between the base and the spindle to provide a magnetic repulsion that suspends the spindle. The magnetic portion further includes an inner magnetic portion and an outer magnetic portion that repulse against each other. The outer magnetic portion is located around the inner magnetic portion so that the inner magnetic portion and the spindle are suspended. Therefore, mechanical friction in the magnetic bearing is minimized.

  • Publication number: 20040022154
Abstract: A spindle motor inclination angle adjusting mechanism for an optical disk device includes two adjusting mechanisms to provide two rotational freedom for the base dock of the spindle motor to adjust the inclination angle of the spindle motor. The first adjusting mechanism has three support points that are not on the same straight line to support the base dock. Two of the support points are fixed and the third support point is movable relative to the other two support points to change the inclination angle of the base dock of the spindle motor. The second adjusting mechanism is a rotary element for carrying the first adjusting mechanism and driving the first adjusting mechanism to rotate and change the direction of the inclination angle of the base dock to adjust the spindle motor inclination angle.

  • Patent number: 6668894
Abstract: A film layer separation device for multilayer disks is disclosed. With the help of a stamper made of magnetic materials, the film layer separation is achieved through the attractive force imposed on the stamper by electromagnetic tearing. The device contains at least: a stamper supporter for supporting the stamper, an electromagnetic attraction device, and a base fixture. To distribute the electromagnetic force on the stamper evenly, the electromagnetic attraction device can have an array of homogeneously disposed electromagnetic iron cores and a conductive coil that can generate a magnetic force. Thus, there will be no localized stress when tearing.

  • Publication number: 20030111757
Abstract: A method and apparatus for making multiple layer optical discs is applied to separate the base plate from the mold plate. The base plate is formed with a first opening, an empty zone and a data zone having a first recording layer. The apparatus includes a first adhesive ending groove, a mold plate, a sealing member and an air-blowing axle. The first adhesive-ending groove is formed on the empty zone of the base plate. The mold plate, movably pressed on the base plate, includes a main body, a second opening, a second adhesive ending groove, a second recording layer and an adhesive layer. The second opening is located on the main body at a position corresponding to the first opening of the base plate. The second adhesive-ending groove is located on the main body at a position corresponding to the first adhesive-ending groove of the base plate.

  • Patent number: 6316854
Abstract: A spindle motor is lifted up to an attachment position, and a yoke inside a disc clamp is then attracted by a circular ring magnet in a turntable on the spindle motor. When the spindle motor is lowered down, the magnetic conductive material is attracted by a circular ring magnetic on a chucking plate. Thus, the disc clamp is moved up-and-down automatically by means of magnetic attraction, and interference with a cartridge is prevented. By comparison with prior art disc clamping apparatus which utilizes a spring or lever mechanism, the present invention can reduce both an operating space and a number of components. Also, the complexities of design and assembly are reduced, and collisions between devices are avoided.
