Abstract: Cropping source images for display on user devices. A source image is cropped and/or resized to correspond to dimensions of a display screen of a device by selecting an area of interest of the source image which will not be lost in the process of resizing the image. Coordinate points are positioned within the image to correspond to dimensions of the display screen on which the image will be displayed and the image is then cropped at the boundaries defined by the coordinate points which include a crop height and a crop width. If needed, the image is then scaled down proportionally to resize the image to a size that corresponds to the dimensions of the display screen of the device.

Abstract: A method for providing a user with mixed content for a device. The method includes pre-rendering mixed content comprising a mix of a first source track and a second source track identified as being compatible with the first source track. The pre-rendered content is stored in a database. Upon receiving a user request which identifies the first source track as a track to be included in the mixed content for a device, the system retrieves a list of second source tracks having characteristics compatible with the first source track and provides the list to the user. Then, the system receives request identifying the second source track as a track to be included in the mixed content along with the first track. In response, the system retrieves the pre-rendered mixed content from the database and sends the pre-rendered mixed content to the device.

A user accesses a server, including a template selector and selects a template into which a user-created recording may be mixed. Abstract: Customizing an image for display on a wireless device. A user accesses an image database and selects an image to customize. After the user selects an image, the image is retrieved from the image database based on a profile of the device. A customized image is produced from a composite of the selected image and a text layer generated from user text provided by a user. The customized image is formatted for the user's device based on the device profile and then transmitted to the user's device for display.

Abstract: The process of turning plain text into animated sequences using a digital image generator, which can be a computer or digital video system is disclosed. A text string is analyzed to determine the concepts contained in the string. An Animation Compositor is used to compose an animated sequence based on the selected concept. The disclosed invention combined with the animation compositor can take a text string and display an animated story, which is conceptually related to the text.
