Publication number: 20140028500Abstract: A positioning system includes a signal transmitter and a signal receiver. The signal transmitter is to be attached to a movable object and includes a transmitting module configured to transmit an electromagnetic wave. The signal receiver includes at least three receiving ports arranged on an imaginary plane defined by a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, spaced apart from one another in a direction along each of the first and second axes, and configured to receive the electromagnetic wave respectively as received signals. The signal receiver further includes a calculating module for calculating a position of the signal transmitter relative to the signal receiver on the imaginary plane based on the received signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2012Publication date: January 30, 2014Inventor: Yu-Ming Liu

Patent number: 7448931Abstract: A carbon nanotube field emission device (100) includes a substrate (10), and a carbon nanotube array (30) formed on and secured to the substrate. This avoids separation of the carbon nanotubes from the substrate by electric field force in a strong electric field. Tips of the carbon nanotubes are exposed. A method for manufacturing the carbon nanotube field emission device includes the steps of: (a) depositing a catalyst film (20) on a substrate; (b) forming a carbon nanotube array on the substrate; (c) injecting an adhesive into the carbon nanotube array, and drying the adhesive; and (d) treating surfaces of the carbon nanotube array by laser. The carbon nanotube field emission device has reduced shielding between adjacent carbon nanotubes, reduced threshold voltage, and increased field emission current.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2005Date of Patent: November 11, 2008Assignees: Tsinghua University, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yu-Ming Liu, Liang Liu, Shou-Shan Fan

Patent number: 7417387Abstract: A device for generating a motive force includes a tubular housing, a driving member, and a magnetic unit. The driving member is movably disposed in the tubular housing and includes a magnet. The magnetic unit includes first and second magnets, each of which covers a respective one of first and second open ends of the tubular housing. The construction as such permits alternate reversal of a polarity of a magnetic field of the magnet of the driving member to cause reciprocating movement of the driving member in the tubular housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2006Date of Patent: August 26, 2008Inventor: Yu-Ming Liu

Publication number: 20080174211Abstract: A motive force generating device includes a rotating member, a driving magnet unit, a driven magnet unit, and a sensor unit. The driving magnet unit is disposed at a position relative to the rotating member. The driven magnet unit is mounted on and is co-rotatable with the rotating member. The driving magnet unit is alternately enabled and disabled by the sensor unit so as to cause rotation of the rotating member.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2007Publication date: July 24, 2008Applicant: Te-En LiuInventor: Yu-Ming LIU
