  • Patent number: 8626963
Abstract: In a host-slave data transfer system, the slave device receives packet based data from an external device and stores the packet content in a buffer as data segments. The slave merges a plurality of data segments into data streams and transmits the data streams to the host. The host uses direct memory access (DMA) to unpack the data stream from the slave into individual data segments without memory copy. To enable the host to set up DMA, the slave transmits information regarding sizes of the data segments to the host beforehand via an outband channel, e.g. by transmitting the size information in headers and/or tailers inserted into previous data streams. The host utilizes the data segment size information to program descriptor tables, such that each descriptor in the descriptor tables causes one data segment in the data stream to be stored in the system memory of the host.

  • Patent number: 7686220
Abstract: The invention provides a memory card detection circuit of a computer. The memory card detection circuit comprises a plurality of query pins through which a memory card is coupled to the computer and a plurality of latch circuits respectively coupled to each of the query pins. The latch circuits generates query signals indicating whether ground bounce occurs in the voltage of the query pins due to a voltage difference between two ends of the query pins shortly after the memory card is coupled to the computer through the query pins. The query signals identify the type of the memory card without waiting until ground bounce is resolved.

  • Patent number: 7526594
Abstract: A method of Universal Serial Bus (USB) data transfer is provided. In one embodiment, a USB device supports a bulk-only transmission mode to transfer data with a USB host, and the USB device comprises a bulk endpoint buffer storing data transferred between the USB device and the USB host through a bulk endpoint of the USB device and an interrupt endpoint buffer storing data transferred between the USB device and the USB host through an interrupt endpoint of the USB device. A first portion of data stipulated to be transferred through the bulk endpoint is stored with the interrupt endpoint buffer. A data path through which data is transferred between the USB host and the USB device is switched to lead to either the bulk endpoint buffer or the interrupt endpoint buffer with a multiplexer.

  • Publication number: 20080098139
Abstract: A high speed transmission system comprises a host controller with a host logic unit and a device controller with a device logic unit. The host controller transmits and receives a digital signal through the first interface according to the first descriptor in a memory. The device controller transmits and receives the digital signal through the second interface according to the second descriptor in the memory.
