  • Patent number: 8338025
Abstract: The outer surface of a metal electrode 202 of a rechargeable oxide-ion battery (ROB) cell is covered by its own dense electrolyte 204 and interconnection 206, where the dense electrolyte 204 and interconnection 206 hermetically seal the metal electrode away from oxygen-containing environment to prevent direct contact between active metal and oxygen which would lead to self discharge, thus, producing a self-sealed metal electrode of a ROB cell without introducing additional sealing components.

  • Patent number: 5428196
Abstract: A switching mechanism interfaces a flexible shaft to a handle of a circuit interrupter which is rotatable in an arcuate path between an on position and an off position. The switching mechanism includes a handle attachment attached to the handle for rotating the handle between the on position and the off position, and a bracket pivotally mounted to the handle attachment and attached to the flexible shaft for movement thereby. The handle attachment may also extend a length of the handle. The switching mechanism may further include a baseplate for securing the flexible shaft thereto and attached to the circuit interrupter. The bracket may have a generally U-shape, two arms pivotally mounted to the handle attachment, and a base which is attached to the flexible shaft. The handle attachment may be generally U-shaped and have a base and two arms which each are pivotally mounted to one of the two arms of the bracket.

  • Patent number: 5355877
Abstract: The present invention discloses an improvement of a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation device characterized in that it has a lower casing and an upper casing separated by a pliable and elastic diaphragm. The elastic diaphragm is upheld by two struts affixed to the lower casing and urged against the bottom of the upper casing to seal any communication between the upper casing and the lower casing and thus preventing air from leaking into said upper casing from lower casing under normal conditions. When the diaphragm is urged by air pressure from the upper casing the portions of the diaphragm not being upheld by the struts will be bent down to allow air to flow into the lower casing. And when the air pressure from said blow-in portion stops, the diaphragm will return to its normally closed portion and seal the upper chamber from the lower chamber.

  • Patent number: 5319168
Abstract: A retractable handle mechanism for controlling the operating handle of a circuit breaker. The handle mechanism consists of a housing which may be mounted on an electrical enclosure in which the circuit breaker may be disposed. Pivotally attached to the housing is a first lever which is movable between an on position and an off position. Retractably attached to the first lever is a second lever which is movable between a first position substantially adjacent the first lever and a second position substantially extended away from the first lever. The retractable handle mechanism may also be equipped with a lever restraining mechanism which allows the second lever to be non-movably disposed in either its first position or its second position. The retractable handle mechanism may also be equipped with a lever off locking mechanism which prevents the first lever from being moved from the off position to the on position.
