    Abstract: A system and method of controlling data recording process of optical recording medium in a sequential writing are described. The control system comprises an information unit, a data-preparing unit and a recording controller. The information unit generates an information signal. The data-preparing unit prepares the data for recording. The data is then transformed into a writing signal according to the information signal. The recording controller controls the data-preparing unit to adjust the writing signal while acquiring the information signal during a sequential writing. Thus, the recording controller adjusts the writing signal according to the information signal. The data-preparing unit outputs the adjusted writing signal having desired recording area and undesired recording area and the adjusted writing signal is recorded on the optical recording medium during the sequential writing. The adjusted writing signal is outputted to OPU. The OPU performs a recording process of the optical recording medium.

An recording system for recording a plurality of data units from a source via a buffer to an optical recordable medium, the apparatus comprising: a pick-up head module (PUH module), a verifier coupled to the PUH module, a buffer management unit for controlling the buffer to buffer data units, and receiving a verifying status signal from the verifier, when the verifying status signal indicating one of recorded data units is verified, generating a transfer control signal for receiving new data unit, and a buffer control signal to control the buffer to release buffer space of the verified data unit to buffer new data unit; wherein after the verifier verifies the second number of the data units, the PUH module follows to an initial position to record a third number of new data units and keeps recording and reading until the plurality of data units being recorded and verified.

    Abstract: An optical recording method and apparatus for recording data to optical recordable medium are present. The optical recording apparatus at least comprises a PUH module and a verifier. The PUH module is used for recording a first number of data units to the optical recordable medium and reading a third number of data units, which are recorded to the optical recordable medium. The verifier is used for verifying the second number of data units being recorded. After the verifier verifies the second number of the data units, the PUH module follows to an initial position to record a third number of data units without any seeking operation. The PUH module keeps recording and reading and the verifier keep verifying until the plurality of data units being recorded and verified.

The method adjusts the rotation speed of an optical storage device to increase access probability and also enhance performance of the optical storage device. The method includes providing weighted values corresponding to a plurality of events that may happen during reading or writing processes of the optical storage device, providing an evaluation function, and determining a speed-up threshold and a speed-down threshold, which correspond to each rotation speed value, within a range of evaluation function values. Further included are when an event of the plurality of events happens, changing the evaluation function value according to the weighted value of the event, and when the evaluation function value is not within an domain between the thresholds, selectively changing the rotation speed of the optical storage device. The method further includes adaptively adjusting the thresholds and the weighted values.
