Abstract: In a liquid crystal display (LCD) device, a plurality of pixels is driven to display a first frame and a second frame in sequence. A gray-scale difference between the first frame and the second frame is detected to determine a driving mode variation between the first frame and the second frame. The number of pixels driven by a dynamic mode and a static mode in the second frame is adjusted according to the driving mode variation. Gray-scale data corresponding to the pixels in the second frame is output.

Abstract: A driving unit for a display device includes a buffer to provide first frame data and second frame data and a timing controller. The timing controller includes a first overdrive data generation unit responsive to the first frame data to output first overdrive frame data to the display device and a second overdrive data generation unit in response to the second frame data to output second overdrive frame data. The timing controller also includes a delay unit to delay the second current overdrive frame data by a delay time period to output the second current overdrive frame data to the display device after the delay time period.

Abstract: A method for driving a pixel includes driving the pixel with a first gray level and a second gray level within a first sub-frame period and a second sub-frame period of a first frame period, respectively, driving the pixel with a third gray level and a fourth gray level within a first sub-frame period and a second sub-frame period of a second frame period, respectively, and adjusting the third gray level and the fourth grey level such that the luminance of the adjusted fourth grey level is similar to the luminance of the second grey level.

Abstract: A method of operating a display includes providing light having a luminance that varies periodically, overdriving a pixel circuit of the display, and modulating the light using the pixel circuit to generate modulated light. The amount of overdrive and the phase of the light relative to the overdriving of the pixel circuit are controlled such that the modulated light has a predetermined level of uniformity.
