    Abstract: The invention provides a portable computer with shared hardware resources that can be used by other computers. The portable computer includes an interface converter, a control module, a power management module, and a power path switch. When the portable computer is powered off and connected with a computer host through a serial bus interface, the shared hardware resources of the portable computer obtain power from the computer host through the serial bus interface. The interface converter converts data between a shared hardware resource interface format and a serial bus interface format, and enables the shared hardware resources to communicate with the computer host and therefore are employed by the computer host. In one embodiment, the shared hardware resources include a keyboard. In another embodiment, the shared hardware resources include a keyboard and a display.

    Abstract: A mobile electronic system for sharing a multimedia playlist over a communication network to a receiving mobile electronic device is disclosed. The system generates a co-processing request according to operations of the user via an input unit and sends the co-processing request to the sharing mobile electronic device. The system may receive a proposing playlist listing multimedia files to be shared with the sharing mobile electronic device and determines if one or more multimedia files listed in the proposing playlist exist in the data storage of the sharing mobile electronic device. The system generates a matching playlist according to the determined multimedia files, sends the matching playlist to the sharing mobile electronic device, and plays the multimedia files listed in the matching playlist.

    Abstract: A media renting system includes a media rental provider and a client machine. The provider communicates with the client machine via a data transmission network. The provider stores user information including a payment card number of a user and a hardware ID of the client machine. In a related media renting method, when the user information from the client machine is recorded in the provider, the client machine succeeds to rent the media file and displays the media file. When rental fees of the media file are greater than or equal to a purchase price of the media file, the provider deducts the purchase price from a balance of the payment card and binds the media file to the client machine.

The system further playing multimedia files listed in the co-processing playlist and if the status of the multimedia files in the file status table, and if the multimedia files do not exist in the receiving mobile electronic device, the sending mobile electronic device simultaneously sends the multimedia file to the receiving mobile electronic device.

    Abstract: A display includes a power switch, a serial bus interface, a microprocessor and other necessary components. The serial bus interface is configured to connect to a serial bus interface of a computer through a data cable. The power switch is provided to be pressed down by user, which is used to turn on or off the display. The microprocessor determines whether the duration of pressing on the power switch exceeds a predetermined period of time. If yes, the microprocessor further determines a current state of the display. If the display is “off”, the microprocessor transmits a sleep control instruction to the computer and controls the computer to fall asleep. If the display is “on”, the microprocessor transmits a wake-up instruction to the computer and wakes up the computer. A method of controlling a computer to fall asleep is also provided.
