    Abstract: A noise abatement fitting for an aquarium standpipe includes a coupling mated with the open end of the standpipe, a hub connected to the coupling with at least one connecting arm. A hollow externally threaded vent tube is threadedly engaged by the hub and has one end extending into the open end of the standpipe. A baffle with an outer diameter decreasing from the top to the bottom of the baffle is attached to the bottom of the vent tube and extends into and occupies a central portion (not the entirety) of the open end of the standpipe, leaving an annular space unobstructed for overflow.
