    Abstract: A microfluidic chip orients and isolates components in a sample fluid mixture by two step focusing, where sheath fluids compress the sample fluid mixture in a sample input channel in one direction, such that the sample fluid mixture becomes a narrower stream bounded by the sheath fluids, and by having the sheath fluids compress the sample fluid mixture in a second direction further downstream, such that the components are compressed and oriented in a selected direction to pass through an interrogation chamber in single file formation for identification and separation by various methods. The isolation mechanism utilizes external, stacked piezoelectric actuator assemblies disposed on a microfluidic chip holder, or piezoelectric actuator assemblies on-chip, so that the actuator assemblies are triggered by an electronic signal to actuate jet chambers on either side of the sample input channel, to jet selected components in the sample input channel into one of the output channels.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method herein efficiently couple spatial light to optical fiber light for achieving stability of an optical axis without a position sensor. The basic concept of the method includes: first, obtaining, according to a theoretical coupling efficiency model, a model parameter by means of fitting calculation; second, using a four-point tracking algorithm to calculate an optical fiber nutation trajectory according to the optical fiber nutation principle; and finally, using the nutation trajectory to calculate the position deviation of a central point. The optical axis is ensured to be stable by correcting the position deviation, and the high coupling efficiency remains. The method is used for the stability of the optical axis in a space coherent laser communication DPSK link. The high efficiency coupling is a key technology of long-distance, high bit rate transmission in space laser communication, and is significant in the development of inter-satellite optical communications.

Introduced here are threat detection platforms designed to take an integrative approach to detecting security threats. For example, after receiving input indicative of an approval from an individual to access past email received by employees of an enterprise, a threat detection platform can download past emails to build a machine learning (ML) model that understands the norms of communication with internal contacts (e.g., other employees) and/or external contacts (e.g., vendors). By applying the ML model to incoming email, the threat detection platform can identify security threats in real time in a targeted manner.

    Abstract: Provided is a 3D human liver organ model constructing method, comprising: preparing human primary liver cells, or mixed cells of same and liver non-parenchymal cells, or human liver cancer cell lines into a single cell suspension, and mixing the single cell suspension with a matrix material to obtain a mixed cell suspension; inoculating the mixed cell suspension into cultivation micropores of a 3D organ-on-a-chip, and carrying out cultivation at 37° C. to obtain a gelled 3D organ-on-a-chip; adding a culture medium into liquid storage holes of the organ-on-a-chip, and carrying out cultivation to obtain a 3D human liver organ model. Compared with other 2D human liver organ models, the constructed 3D human liver organ model has significantly enhanced response sensitivity to hepatotoxic drugs, and shows stronger hepatotoxic damage effect for reported hepatotoxic drugs. Compared with an animal model, the 3D human liver organ model can effectively eliminate the screening difference caused by species difference.

    Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed towards dynamic spread spectrum (DSS) deployments, in which two cells such as an LTE cell and a new radio (NR) cell share available physical resource blocks during a given transmission time interval. The LTE cell and NR cell determine priority values for their user equipments to be scheduled, and both cells provide requested scheduling information including the priority values and requested resource blocks for user equipments in the upcoming transmission time interval. Based on the priority values, a real-time joint scheduler processes the combined scheduling information from both cells to determine how many physical resource blocks of the total available to allocate to the LTE cell and how many to allocate to the NR cell for the next transmission time interval. To avoid collisions, the LTE cell and NR cell modify their respective UE schedules based on their respective number of allocated physical resource blocks.
