    Abstract: The disclosed technology provides a provides a method for generating a query. The method includes receiving at least sensed data of a first sensor collected from a first sensor on a querying device and sensed data of a second sensor collected from a second sensor on the querying device. One or more numeric parameters are obtained by transforming the sensed data of the first sensor. The sensed data of the second sensor is analyzed to identify one or more features using pattern recognition and the one or more features are extracted from the sensed data of the second sensor. The method further includes generating a query based at least on the numeric parameters obtained from the sensed data of the first sensor and the features extracted from the sensed data of the second sensor.

    Abstract: A comparator offset voltage self-correction circuit is disclosed. A comparator offset voltage which is caused by the semiconductor process parameter randomness also has randomness. Due to the randomness of the comparator offset voltage, a reference voltage of a parallel comparator in a parallel-conversion-type analog-to-digital converter is uncertain. If the comparator offset voltage is large, the parallel-conversion-type analog-to-digital converter may even have a functional error. The comparator offset voltage self-correction circuit provided in the present invention can correct a random offset voltage of a comparator to meet requirements.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method or system generates a high resolution 3-D point cloud to operate an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV) from a low resolution 3-D point cloud and camera-captured image(s). The system receives a first image captured by a camera for a driving environment. The system receives a second image representing a first depth map of a first point cloud corresponding to the driving environment. The system upsamples the second image by a predetermined scale factor to match an image scale of the first image. The system generates a second depth map by applying a convolutional neural network (CNN) model to the first image and the upsampled second image, the second depth map having a higher resolution than the first depth map such that the second depth map represents a second point cloud perceiving the driving environment surrounding the ADV.

    Abstract: The fabrication of asymmetric monometallic nanocrystals with novel properties for plasmonics, nanophotonics and nanoelectronics. Asymmetric monometallic plasmonic nanocrystals are of both fundamental synthetic challenge and practical significance. In an example, a thiol-ligand mediated growth strategy that enables the synthesis of unprecedented Au Nanorod-Au Nanoparticle (AuNR-AuNP) dimers from pre-synthesized AuNR seeds. Using high-resolution electron microscopy and tomography, crystal structure and three-dimensional morphology of the dimer, as well as the growth pathway of the AuNP on the AuNR seed, was investigated for this example. The dimer exhibits an extraordinary broadband optical extinction spectrum spanning the UV, visible, and near infrared regions (300-1300 nm). This unexpected property makes the AuNR-AuNP dimer example useful for many nanophotonic applications.
