  • Patent number: 9438332
Abstract: A wireless networking method includes placing a master device and at least one peripheral device within proximity of each other. A radio frequency request for proximity pairing is transmitted from the peripheral device to the master device. Radio frequency proximity pairing signals implementing the proximity pairing are transmitted from the master device to the peripheral device. The proximity pairing signals are transmitted with a first level of transmission power. After the proximity pairing is complete, operational signals are transmitted from the master device to the peripheral device. The operational signals are transmitted with a second level of transmission power greater than the first level of transmission power.

Abstract: A riser assembly for transporting fluids from a sub-sea location is disclosed. The riser assembly includes a riser having at least one segment of flexible pipe and a plurality of buoyancy compensating elements connected to the riser and connected together in an in-line configuration to form a mid-line buoyancy section. The riser assembly also includes at least one buoyancy aid connected to the riser at a position above and spaced apart from the mid-line buoyancy section. The at least one buoyancy aid forms a first distributed buoyancy section and is sufficiently buoyant to maintain a tension load on the riser between the first distributed buoyancy section and the mid-line line buoyancy section. The riser assembly further includes at least one further buoyancy compensating element connected to the riser at a position above and spaced apart from the first distributed buoyancy section to form a second distributed buoyancy section.

  • Publication number: 20160150185
Abstract: A switch system for video conference includes a video signal processing chip, an internal video interface, an external video interface, and a switch unit. The video signal processing chip includes a second GPIO pin and a third GIPO pin. The second GPIO pin and the third GIPO pin receive a first state signal and a second state signal. The video signal processing chip determines a mode of an electronic device according to voltage levels of the first state signal and the second state signal. When the video signal processing chip determines that the electronic device is in a working mode, the video signal processing chip receives an internal video source from the internal video interface. When the video signal processing chip determines that the electronic device is in a hibernate mode or a sleep mode, the video signal processing chip determines whether the internal video interface is cut off.

  • Publication number: 20160131651
Abstract: Polypeptide substrates based on modifications or fragments of the various APP isoforms, assay methods based on the use of these substrates, and screening methods directed toward identifying inhibitors of ?-secretase activity. The assay methods and the screening methods are adapted for use in high throughput multi-well plate assay apparatuses. In many embodiments the substrate polypeptides are labeled for ease of detection, and/or may bind specific ligands that themselves are labeled. Generally the labels promote high specificity as well as high sensitivity of detection. These features render the assay and screening methods that employ the labeled substrates especially suited for use in high throughput assay formats. This disclosure further identifies small polypeptides based on a subsequence motif of A? that are shown herein to be potent inhibitors of the activity of ?-secretase.

  • Patent number: 9255176
Abstract: Polymer surface modification method comprising the steps of first forming a surface of primary reactive end groups tethered to the polymer chain ends during fabrication of an article, and then modifying the reactive surface with bio-active molecules, hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers, oligomers, or polymers to attain specific surface properties. Alternatively, a multifunctional coupling agent can be used to couple the primary reactive group to a second reactive group capable of reacting with a functional group associated with bio-active molecules, hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers, oligomers, and polymers to attain specific surface properties. The invention involves bringing reactive endgroups to the surface with surface active spacer attached to the polymer chain end. The surface active spacer allows the migration and enrichment of reactive end groups to the surface during fabrication.
