  • Patent number: 9639075
Abstract: A status controller, a computer system, and a status detecting method thereof are disclosed. The status controller is used in the computer system. A main controller is used for indicating a shutdown status or an active status by a first level of an active-shutdown indicating interface pin. The status controller includes a hardware basic input output controller and an embedded controller. The hardware basic input output controller is used for indicating whether the computer system is in a sleep status by a second level of a system controlling interface pin, wherein when the computer system is in the sleep status, the hardware basic input output controller changes the second level. The embedded controller determines whether the computer system is in the shutdown or the active status by the first level and in the sleep status by the second level.

  • Patent number: 8519957
Abstract: A method for simulating a mouse with a keyboard in a computer system includes detecting whether a key event occurs in a switch matrix of the keyboard of the computer system, determining whether the key event is related to a specific control key when the key event is detected, transforming a location of a switch in which the key event occurs into a pair of coordinates when the key event is not related to the specific control key and is a key-pressed event, calculating a pair of displacements between the latest two pairs of coordinates to obtain a movement data, and transmitting the movement data to a mouse driver of the computer system so that an operating system of the computer system is capable of receiving the movement data by the mouse driver, for controlling movement of a pointer shown on a screen of the computer system.

  • Publication number: 20130080755
Abstract: A method for speeding up the boot time of an electric device and the electric device are disclosed. The disclosed method includes measuring power consumption of the electric device and determining whether the power consumption is greater than a threshold level, wherein the measuring and the determining steps are executed during a boot process of the electric device. If the power consumption is greater than the threshold level, a connector port controller initialization procedure is performed during the boot process, to initialize the connector port controller accordingly. If the power consumption is not greater than the threshold level, a simplified form of the connector port controller initialization procedure is performed during the boot process, to speed up the boot time.

  • Patent number: 8122293
Abstract: A method for automatically simulating manual testing of a computer after the computer is powered on includes the steps of: (a) connecting the computer to an external storage device having a script recorded thereon that corresponds to a manual testing operation; and (b) after the computer is powered on, enabling the computer to access the script of the external storage device for performing the manual testing operation. By providing automatic simulation of manual testing of a computer after the computer is powered on, time and labor costs incurred in a conventional method of manually inputting instructions required for the manual testing operation in the computer are saved.

  • Publication number: 20090249009
Abstract: In a method for copying data from an external storage device to a computer, the computer is provided with a basic input/output system (BIOS) program used for performing the method. The method includes the steps of: (a) after the computer is powered on, initializing the external storage device in response to a hot key trigger; and (b) storing the data from the external storage device to the computer. Since data is copied from the external storage device to the computer immediately after powering on the computer, efficiency is enhanced.
