Patent number: 8976550Abstract: A power supply having a power protection circuit has a rectification circuit and a converter. An input terminal of the rectification circuit is connected with the AC mains. A first voltage dependent resistor is connected with the AC mains. The converter has a transformer. A primary side of the transformer is connected with an output terminal of the rectification circuit, and the secondary side is connected to a power output terminal and a ground terminal. A Y capacitor is connected between the primary side of the transformer and the ground terminal. A surge protection module is connected between the first voltage dependent resistor and the Y capacitor. When a surge occurs between the primary and secondary sides of the transformer, a surge current is shunted by the surge protection module to the ground terminal through the Y capacitor without damaging internal components or circuits inside the power supply.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2011Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Cyber Power Systems Inc.Inventors: Chih-Wei Hsiao, Yuan-Liang Hsu

Publication number: 20130076364Abstract: A battery detection method detecting if a voltage to be tested falls within a voltage range between a highest voltage of a rechargeable battery and a highest detection voltage. If the voltage to be tested is less than the highest detection voltage, further determine if the voltage to be tested reaches a target voltage within a test time period. If the voltage to be tested reaches the target voltage after the test time period expires, determine that the voltage to be tested is from a rechargeable battery. If the voltage to be tested reaches the target voltage within the test time period, determine that the voltage to be tested is from a non-rechargeable battery. Accordingly, the battery detection method can easily detect if a voltage to be tested is from a rechargeable battery.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2011Publication date: March 28, 2013Inventors: Lien-Hsun Ho, Yuan-Liang Hsu, Cheng-Wei Chu

Patent number: 8233296Abstract: A front-end circuit of a power converter has a power connection wiring detecting circuit, a power switch and a control unit. The power connection wiring detecting circuit is connected to an AC power. The control unit is connected to the power connection wiring detecting circuit. The power switch is connected to the power loop. The control unit turns on or off the AC power loop through the power switch. When the power connection wiring is correctly connected with the AC power, the control unit turns on the power switch and the front-end circuit outputs the AC power to the back-end circuit. When the power connection wiring is incorrectly connected with the AC power, the control unit turns off the power switch and the AC power is not outputted to the back-end circuit.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2009Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Cyber Power System Inc.Inventors: Yuan-Liang Hsu, Han-Yang Huang, Chih-Wei Hsiao

Patent number: 7632152Abstract: A DC/AC adapter assembly has a DC/AC adapter and a cable. The cable transmits a power-overloading signal to the DC/AC adapter indicating whether power-overloading is occurring in the cable. The DC/AC adapter includes a controller circuit for controlling and adjusting an output alternating current of the DC/AC adapter based on the power-overloading signal to reduce power-overloading occurring in the cable.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2006Date of Patent: December 15, 2009Assignee: Cyber Power System Inc.Inventors: Lien-Hsun Ho, Yuan-Liang Hsu, Shou-Ting Yeh, Chuan-Hsing Wu, Grant Chen

Publication number: 20090059636Abstract: A power adapter has a body, a pair of blades, a DC output terminal, an AC to DC circuit, a node and a storage unit. The blades are mounted in and protrude from the body to connect to an AC power source to obtain AC power. The DC output terminal is mounted on the body to connect to a load. The AC to DC circuit is mounted in the body, converts the AC power into DC power and has an input terminal and an output terminal. The node is defined between the DC output terminal and the AC to DC circuit. The storage unit is connected to the node to store the DC power output from the AC to DC circuit and provide a stored DC output to the DC output terminal.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2007Publication date: March 5, 2009Applicant: CYBER POWER SYSTEM INC.Inventors: Lien-Hsun HO, Yuan-Liang HSU
