  • Publication number: 20040122998
Abstract: An access control method is provided for a single hard disk partitioned into a data storage area and a data backup area. In response to a write command from a host terminal, a data write address for the data storage area and associated with the write command is translated into a backup write address for the data backup area. A processor receives and stores the data write address, write data associated with the write command, and the backup write address onto a data buffer, and stores the write data associated with the write command onto the data storage area at the data write address and onto the data backup area at the backup write address. In response to a read command from the host terminal, the processor reads data corresponding to the read command from one of the data storage area and the data backup area.

  • Publication number: 20030195936
Abstract: The present invention provides a mail extracting method of handheld device. First, a multimedia agent is used to access an e-mail from the mail host. The e-mail is then compared with mail extracting rules in a mail extracting rule database via a filter to extract a mail with appropriate format. Next, the mail with appropriate format is stored into a memory. Finally, the mail with appropriate format is transmitted to the handheld device. The mail extracting method finds out the content type of the e-mail via the key-tag thereof, accesses the mail type defined in the content type, and then checks the mail type to determine whether it conforms to the mail extracting rules in the mail extracting rule database. If the answer is positive, the e-mail is extracted to be a mail with appropriate format.

  • Publication number: 20020124136
Abstract: The present invention discloses a portable storage system and method thereof used in a computer system. The present invention makes it easy to remove a mass storage device from a computer system without bumping against the operation system (OS). The portable storage system comprises a mass storage device, a processor, a first memory and a second memory. When a user removes the mass storage device from a computer system, the present invention can simulate a response to the OS in order to prevent the OS from shutting-down which will be caused if the OS cannot sense the existence of said mass storage device.
