    Abstract: A volume holographic imaging system enables the projection of a two-dimensional (2D) slice of a four-dimensional (4D) object. The 4D source object is illuminated to emit or scatter an optical field. A holographic element having one or more recorded holograms receives and diffracts the optical field into a diffracted plane beam. A phase mask is encoded in one or more multiplexed holographic gratings of the holographic element using a spatial filter. A collector lens focuses the diffracted plane beam to a 2D slice of the 4D probing source object. The focused 2D slice is projected onto a 2D imaging plane. The holographic element may have multiple multiplexed holograms that are arranged to diffract light from a corresponding slice of the 4D probing source object to a non-overlapping region of the detector.

    Abstract: An exemplary fastener feeder includes a pair of guiders, a slot cover and a blocker. The guiders define a sliding slot therebetween. Each guider includes a sloped part and a level part, bodies of the fasteners are capable of being received in the sliding slot, and a head of each fastener is capable of sliding down from the sloped parts and stopping on the level parts. The slot cover defines an opening for providing a path through which a fastener pickup device can pass through and engage with a fastener located on the level parts. The blocker is located below the level parts. When the fastener pickup device moves the fastener head engaged therewith away from the opening and a length of the fastener is greater than a distance between the blocker and the level parts, the fastener is blocked by blocker and disengaged from the fastener pickup device.

    Abstract: A method for preparing hexose derivatives comprises the steps of providing a silylated hexose, treating the silylated hexose with a first carbonyl compound in the presence of a catalyst to form an ketalized hexose, treating the ketalized hexose with a second carbonyl compound followed by treating with a first reductant to form an etherized hexose, and converting the etherized hexose into a target hexose derivative, which can be 2-alcohol hexose, 3-alcohol hexose, 4-alcohol hexose, or a 6-alcohol hexose. In particular, the present invention can prepare the hexose derivatives with highly regioselective scheme to protect individual hydroxyls of monosaccharide units and install an orthogonal protecting group pattern in a one-pot manner.
