  • Patent number: 6785383
Abstract: A telephone line connection and disconnection circuit has a diode bridge coupled to the telephone line which converts different voltages of the telephone line into a voltage referenced to ground. A switching circuit is coupled to the diode bridge which opens and closes a conductive pathway for connecting and disconnecting a telephony product from the telephone line. A resistive element is coupled to the diode bridge and the switching circuit which allows for the conductive pathway to be normally closed. An optical isolator is coupled to the switching circuit and the resistive element for sending a control signal to the circuit when required.

  • Patent number: 6636506
Abstract: An internet telephone system is disclosed. The internet telephone system is comprised of an internet system, a public switched telephone network (PSTN) coupled to the internet system, and a plurality of internet telephone stations coupled to the PSTN. In the internet telephone system a first internet telephone station establishes a PSTN telephone connection to a remote number, and upon coupling to a second internet telephone station at the remote number, the first and the second internet telephone stations exchange their names and IP addresses, terminate the PSTN telephone connection and then automatically establish an internet telephone TCP/IP connection.

  • Patent number: 6519250
Abstract: An internet telephone system uses a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). An internet network is coupled to the PSTN. At least two telephone stations are part of the system wherein one of the at least two telephone stations is a DSL telephone station which is coupled to the PSTN. The DSL telephone station has a Plain Old Telephone Set (POTS) splitter coupled to the PSTN for directing low frequency signals to a first line and DSL signals to a second line. A DSL line interface is coupled to the POTS splitter for driving and terminating the second line. A DSL transmitter is coupled to the DSL line interface. A DSL receiver is also coupled to the DSL line interface. A Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is coupled to the DSL transmitter and the DSL receiver. A telephone interface is coupled to the first line. An audio transceiver device is coupled to the telephone interface. A CODEC circuit is also coupled to the telephone interface. A ring and hook detect/control circuitry is coupled to the DSP.

  • Patent number: 5841850
Abstract: An intelligent caller identification apparatus for notifying a selected telephone number of the arrival of special electronic information. An information/internet service provider (ISP) calls a subscriber when an electronic communication has arrived. A microcontroller is used to compare the incoming telephone number to telephone numbers stored in an ISP database. If the incoming telephone number matches information stored in the ISP database, an information indicator circuit is set to inform the user of the arrival of an electronic communication. A ringing control circuit is used to prevent the telephone set from ringing when the incoming telephone number matches an ISP telephone number. The ringing control circuit thereby prevents the user from answering the incoming telephone call when the incoming telephone call is for notification of an electronic information delivery.

  • Patent number: 5602908
Abstract: A calling party identifying apparatus electrically connected to an exchange system which can provide the calling number and the registered name of the phone set or the like includes a receiver, a microprocessor, a memory, an LCD, a key pad, a plurality of lights, and a speaker. The memory has a database installed therein including a plurality of potential callers' information each of which includes a specific caller's name, the calling number of the caller, the preference degree thereof, and the preferred hours for the caller to call. The apparatus is allowed to display the caller's name on the LCD instead of displaying the registered name of the calling device. When any call comes in, the apparatus will check the database and display the caller's name, the calling number thereof, and the preference degree thereof.
