The device and systems disclosed herein include an interferometer comprising a first branch formed of a first waveguide and a second branch formed of a second waveguide. A resonator cavity is coupled to the second first waveguide and at least one phase-shift mechanism is coupled to one of the second waveguide and the resonator cavity. The at least one phase-shift mechanism is configured to control biases of the interferometer to achieve a desired activation function at an output of the interferometer, and an optical amplification mechanism is coupled to the output of the interferometer and configured to add optical gain to the desired activation function.

The training data is encoded, based on the dropout policy, to form embeddings, where the embeddings include multiple positive sample embeddings corresponding to the positive sample and multiple negative sample embedding corresponding to the negative samples.

The device and systems disclosed herein include a directional coupler comprising a first phase-shift mechanism and an interferometer coupled to the directional coupler. The interferometer comprises at least one microring resonator and a second phase-shift mechanism coupled to thereto. The interferometer and the directional coupler comprise waveguides formed of a first material, while the microring resonator comprises a waveguide formed of a second material and a third phase-shift mechanism. The second material is provided as a low-loss material having a high Kerr effect and large bandgaps, to generate various nonlinear activation functions. The first, second, and third phase-shift mechanisms are configured to control biases within the disclosed systems and devices to achieve a desired activation function.

In various implementations, an automated assistant may be transitioned from a limited listening state into a full speech recognition state in response to a trigger event. While in the full speech recognition state, the automated assistant may receive and perform speech recognition processing on a spoken command from a user to generate a textual command. The textual command may be determined to satisfy a frequency threshold in a corpus of textual commands Consequently, data indicative of the textual command may be enrolled as a hot command. Subsequent utterance of another textual command that is semantically consistent with the textual command may trigger performance of a responsive action by the automated assistant, without requiring explicit invocation.

The driving circuit drives a first light source and adjusts a brightness of the first light source. A duty ratio of the first PWM signal and the first driving current have a first relationship therebetween. The dimming depth control circuit includes a first variable resistance circuit, and the first variable resistance circuit controls a magnitude of a first variable resistance between a first current sampling terminal and a ground terminal according to a first dimming depth control signal. The first relationship defines a first dimming depth that varies with the first variable resistance.

    Abstract: At least one computer processor can replace visual words of an unsupervised machine learning classification model with visual objects of an image. At least two co-occurring single visual objects adjacent to each other in pixels of the image can be combined to obtain a compound visual object. The unsupervised machine learning classification model can be augmented to model the image as a mixture of subjects, where each subject is represented through placements of the visual objects in a mixture of concentric spheres centering on a mixture of intersections on a mixture of horizontal layers. At least one processor can learn latent relationships between the placements of the visual objects in a three-dimensional space depicted in the image and image semantics. Learning the latent relationships trains the unsupervised machine learning classification model to perform image subject classification through the placements of the visual objects in a new image.
