  • Patent number: 7981677
Abstract: Compositions related to the quantitative trait locus 6 (QTL6) in maize and methods for their use are provided. The compositions are novel molecular marker loci that are genetically linked with QTL6 and which are associated with increased oil content and/or increased oleic acid content and/or an increased oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio of a plant or plant part thereof. These novel markers are characterized by the presence of at least one polymorphism relative to the corresponding marker locus from the QTL6 region of non-high-oil, non-high-oleic acid maize plants. In some embodiments, the novel marker loci comprise coding sequence for a maize DGAT1-2 polypeptide or biologically active variant thereof.

  • Patent number: 7937183
Abstract: A molded-component characteristic estimation device that estimates the stress-strain curve of each portion of a molded-component includes a storage unit that stores correlation data showing the correlation between solidification time and mechanical characteristics of a material for the molded-component; and a controller that estimates solidification time of each portion of the molded-component using a shape model of the molded-component, calculates a mechanical characteristic value of each portion based on the correlation data and the estimated solidification time, and estimates the stress-strain curve of each portion of the molded-component based on the calculated mechanical characteristic value. With this device, the stress-strain curve of each portion of the molded-component is estimated without actual measurement.

  • Patent number: 7928296
Abstract: Compositions and methods related to transgenic glyphosate/ALS inhibitor-tolerant maize plants are provided. Specifically, the present invention provides maize plants having a DP-098140-6 event which imparts tolerance to glyphosate and at least one ALS-inhibiting herbicide. The maize plant harboring the DP-098140-6 event at the recited chromosomal location comprises genomic/transgene junctions having at least the polynucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:5 and/or 6. The characterization of the genomic insertion site of the DP-098140-6 event provides for an enhanced breeding efficiency and enables the use of molecular markers to track the transgene insert in the breeding populations and progeny thereof. Various methods and compositions for the identification, detection, and use of the maize DP-098140-6 events are provided.

Abstract: A ballast comprising a first input terminal, a second input terminal, a switch circuit, and a plurality of lamp sets is provided. The switch circuit comprises a first switch and a second switch connected with the first one. The switches are connected with the first and second input terminals respectively. The lamp sets are connected in parallel with each other and have an arrangement sequence. Each of the lamp sets is coupled to the first and second switches and comprises a first lamp having a first filament. The filaments are connected in series according to the arrangement order so that at least one junction is formed in the at least one connection point. The first one of the first filaments is coupled to the first switch. The last one of the first filaments is coupled to the second switch. Thereby, the ballast can be implemented by less internal connection terminals and leads.
