  • Patent number: 11896233
Abstract: A circular stapling device includes a manually operated trigger (24) that is adapted to allow staple formation to occur prior to cutting of tissue during a single actuation of the firing trigger (24). The stapling device (10) minimizes stretching and movement of tissue during staple formation to improve staple formation. The stapling device (10) also reduces the amount of force required to move the firing trigger (24) through a firing stroke by separating the staple formation and tissue cutting functions of the stapling device (10) to reduce stress on a clinician's hand during actuation of the stapling device (10).

  • Patent number: 11071553
Abstract: An endoscopic surgical clip applier (10) includes a handle assembly (100) configured to releasably engage at least two in different endoscopic assemblies (200, 300). The handle assembly (100) is configured to transition from a non-ratcheting use condition to a ratcheting use condition when an endoscopic assembly (200) configured for ratcheting use is engaged with the handle assembly (100). The handle assembly (100) is maintained in the non-ratcheting use condition when an endoscopic assembly (300) configured for non-ratcheting use is engaged with the handle assembly (100). Endoscopic assemblies (200, 300) for use with the handle assembly (100) are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20200315629
Abstract: A reposable surgical instrument includes a handle assembly and an endoscopic assembly releasably engagable with the handle assembly. The handle assembly includes a housing, a drive bar supporting a ratchet pawl, and a trigger coupled to the housing and the drive bar. The endoscopic assembly includes a proximal hub including a ratchet rack, an elongated shaft extending from the proximal hub and supporting an end effector assembly at a distal end thereof, and a drive assembly operably coupled to the end effector assembly. In use, movement of the trigger from an un-actuated position towards an actuated position translates the drive bar from a proximal position towards a distal position to engage the ratchet pawl with the ratchet rack such that further distal translation of the drive bar towards the distal position incrementally urges the drive assembly from the un-fired position towards the fired position.
