The data in the non-scheduled access scheme can be spread according to a spreading sequence. The method also includes determining a transport block size for at least one of the first codeword or the second codeword.     Abstract: A radio network sends downlink signaling to a user equipment (UE) that triggers an enhanced uplink beam selection protocol, based on quality of the UE's uplink signaling the network receives according to a basic uplink beam selection protocol. In response the UE transmits pre-defined signaling such as uplink beam references signals (U-BRS) with uplink beams according to the downlink signaling. The network measures and selects one or more of those uplink beams for the UE to use for sending uplink data, and notifies this selection to the UE. In various embodiments the basic uplink beam selection protocol is based on uplink-downlink reciprocity, the downlink triggering signaling is dynamic and further selects a subset of uplink beams, and multiple UEs can be triggered in common signaling where blind decoding by the UEs is enabled via a scrambling ID for this enhanced uplink beam selection protocol purpose.

In one embodiment, a base station may identify an index of the current EPDCCH occasion period, each EPDCCH occasion period including a number of subframes, and the subframes being divided to a number of search units. A distribution of EPDCCH candidates corresponding to at least one EPDCCH aggregation level in the EPDCCH occasion period may be determined based on the index of the EPDCCH occasion period and the number of search units in the EPDCCH occasion period. The base station may then select, from the distribution of the EPDCCH candidates, an EPDCCH candidate for transmitting downlink control information (DCI) to a UE.

The uplink control information is received, over the plurality of subframes, from the UE in the single PUCCH region per subframe.
