  • Patent number: 11682509
Abstract: A multilayer film includes a substrate; a first magnetic layer disposed on the substrate and a second magnetic layer disposed on the first magnetic layer. The first magnetic layer includes Fe(50-80)N(10-20)B(1-20)M(0-10), wherein M is Si, Ta, Zr, Ti, Co, or a combination thereof. The second magnetic layer includes Fe(50-90)N(10-50) or Fe(60-90)N(1-10)Ta(5-30). The multilayer magnetic film has, over a frequency range of 50 MHz to 10 GHz, a magnetic permeability of greater than or equal to 1800 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; a magnetic loss tangent of less than or equal to 0.3 over a selected frequency band in the frequency range; and a cutoff frequency of greater than or equal to 1 GHz, or greater than or equal to 2 GHz.

  • Patent number: 7793127
Abstract: In some embodiments, the invention involves efficiently boot and resume a machine from a low power state. In at least one embodiment, the present invention saves the processor state(s) in a buffer that allows fast access upon a resume from sleep mode. When a sleep (S3 mode) is initiated in a platform, processor state context is saved in a system reserved buffer that does not allow access to the operating system. The firmware (EFI) has access to the buffer and upon a resume, the processor context(s) are restored from a fast buffer. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Inventors: Xiaogang Gu, Vincent J. Zimmer, Michael A. Rothman, Yuanyuan Xing
  • Patent number: 7584374
Abstract: In some embodiments, the invention involves a system and method for fast resume from sleep mode. Reserved cache memory is used to store drivers and configuration variables. Upon resume, the drivers and configuration are read from the ACPI reserved cache memory and executed in memory rather than read from slower flash or CMOS memory. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20070234126
Abstract: New firmware versions may be tested more efficiently and more quickly by making an analysis of how a change in the firmware affects components, protocols, and drivers. Based on a determination of the dependencies between the changed components, drivers, and protocols, a list of tests that need to be undertaken can be derived. This list of tests may be much less extensive than all the tests that would normally be run to validate a new version of the firmware. As a result, the test time may be reduced in some embodiments.
