  • Patent number: 9046936
Abstract: The handheld controller controls a graphic cursor on a display. A motion sensor responds to user movement of a first type producing motion data. A touchpad responds to user movement of a second type more precise than the first type producing second sensor data. A processor calculates a hybrid cursor movement signal having a large scale movement component corresponding to movement of the first type and a fine scale movement component corresponding to movement of the second type, the hybrid cursor movement signal being for moving the graphic cursor. A processor calculates the large scale movement component based on a first sensitivity parameter representing sensitivity of the motion sensor determined by associating the touchpad data with the motion data, and the fine scale movement component based on a second sensitivity parameter representing sensitivity of the touchpad determined by associating the motion data with the touchpad data.

  • Publication number: 20150124086
Abstract: A hybrid system which detects and tracks objects in three-dimensional space using a light source disposed in spaced relation to a projection surface, defining a volume of space illuminated by said light source. A light sensor responsive to illumination falling on the projection surface measures illumination levels over a predefined image plane associated with the light sensor, producing a projected image signal. A structured light source projects a structured light within the volume of space and a structured light sensor records reflected structured light from objects occupying the volume of space producing a structured light signal. A correlation processor receptive of the projected image signal and said structured light signal and adapted to compute a hybrid signal indicative of the position of an object within said space and from which other information about the object may be extracted.

  • Patent number: 8988343
Abstract: Multiple electronic displays are arranged to define an ensemble of the user's choosing. The processor generates and displays a uniquely encoded emblem encoding a unique identifier for that display. A camera captures at least one image of the ensemble so that the encoded emblem for each display is captured. The captured images are then processed to extract the following attributes: a) unique identifier of the display; b) position of the encoded emblem relative to the reference coordinate system; and c) pointing direction of the encoded emblem relative to the reference coordinate system. The processor collectively processes the attributes for each of the emblem images to compute for each display a transformation matrix that selects a portion of the image data for display on that monitor and performs pointing direction correction so that the information presented on that display appears spatially consistent with the information presented on the other displays.

  • Patent number: 8743055
Abstract: A handheld controller which includes at least two disparate sensors, such as a motion sensor and a touchpad sensor. A processor deployed in either handheld controller or separate product implements a hybrid pointing and selection method that uses data from the first sensor to adjust the sensitivity to stimulus of the second sensor, and vice versa. The respective sensor data are thus tempered and combined to generate a cursor control signal that includes a large scale control component to control size and movement of a rough pointer region, and a fine scale control component to control position of a precise pointer within the rough pointer region.

  • Patent number: 8375283
Abstract: A system, device, method, and computer program product are provided for allowing a user of the device to more easily annotate data files and/or images received by or created by the electronic device or system. For example, according to one embodiment, when a user takes a digital picture using a camera-equipped mobile phone, annotation data may be automatically presented to the user when a preview of the image is first displayed on the electronic display. The annotation data may be presented to the user as a list that semi-transparently overlays the preview of the image. The annotation list and/or the individual annotations that make up the list may be customizable. The annotation choices in the list may correspond to keys on the electronic device. Annotation data may be stored with the image or file as embedded metadata. The selected annotation data may also be used to create file folders in a memory device and/or store the image or file in a particular file folder in the memory device.

  • Patent number: 5981985
Abstract: In an integrated heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) with minimized base-collector capacitance, a sub-collector region is formed as a mesa on a substrate, a collector contact is to the sub-collector mesa region, a lightly-doped collector region and a base region extend from the mesa onto the substrate, and a base contact and its via hole for interconnection are off the mesa, with minimal overlap with the sub-collector region. The latter may be termed a buried selective sub-collector (BSSC) region. Such transistors can be used as integrated switching devices and microwave devices, e.g., in wireless communications, satellite direct broadcast systems, automobile collision avoidance systems, global positioning systems, and other high-frequency applications.

  • Patent number: 5859447
Abstract: An HBT device having heterostructure ballasting emitter is disclosed. The heterostructure ballasting emitter includes an n-type emitter setback layer on a base layer and a wide-gap ballasting emitter layer on the setback layer. The heterostructure ballasting emitter is made so that the band gap of the emitter setback layer is equal to or larger than that of the base layer and the band gap of the ballasting emitter layer is larger than that of the emitter setback layer. The heterostructure of the emitter setback layer and the ballasting emitter layer serves as the ballast. By changing the value of the valance offset between the emitter setback layer and the ballasting emitter layer, the temperature dependence of the current gain becomes adjustable. As a consequence, the present invention overcomes hurdles posed by the current gain collapse and a negative differential resistance and improves the use of the HBTs in microwave power applications.
