Abstract: The present invention provides document classification methods, apparatus and systems for browsing documents in the Internet. The method includes the steps of: creating a plurality of categories on the server side, assigning the documents to be browsed by the user to the corresponding categories, and managing said plurality of categories in a flat structure; and on the client side, selecting the required categories from the plurality of categories to create a personalized classification structure. The cost of calculating and storing can be greatly reduced by utilizing the system and method according to the present invention.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods, systems and apparatus for generating a visualized hierarchy model for a semantic network, and for browsing a semantic network and a semantic network browser. An example of a semantic network comprises a plurality of concepts and a plurality of relation instances each for connecting two concepts. The method for generating a visualized hierarchy model for a semantic network comprises: determining the similarities among said concepts based on the connection relations of said plurality of concepts in said semantic network; and clustering the concepts with high similarities one by one, so as to form a visualized hierarchy model of said semantic network.

Abstract: A signal combination apparatus and a communication system for combining video signal, audio signal and data signal are provided. The present invention includes a modulator, a signal processor and an adder. The modulator modulates the video signal to generate a first signal. The signal processor encodes and modulates the audio signal and the data signal to generate a second signal. The adder makes addition operation of the first signal and the second signal to generate a transmission signal which is transmitted via an optic fiber.

An example method comprising the steps of: a resource producer registering a resource and a resource plug-in with a first server, and submitting a resource patch thereto when a resource update occurs; a second server replicating the resource, the resource plug-in and the resource patch from the first server, and a resource consumer downloading the resource, the resource plug-in and the resource patch from the second server; and updating the resource at the resource consumer side by executing the resource plug-in to apply the resource patch on the resource, and obtaining an updated resource version. The method and system of the present invention will greatly save network bandwidth in a large scale progressive resource distribution and make the design more flexible and extensible.

Each of the physically stored files is mapped into one or more logical categories based on the contents of the file. And a desktop files resource manager presents the files by categories organized in a tree structure such that the user can directly find desired files via categories by using the present invention. The invention significantly improves the function of the file system and makes the file management interface more friendly.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of annotation for electronic document, a method for creating, modifying and browsing an annotation in an electronic document, and an apparatus and system for editing, browsing annotations in electronic document. The method of annotation for electronic document includes: storing annotation contents for one or more electronic documents into a shared dictionary; and when a reader browses an electronic document, providing the reader with annotations for the electronic document based on the shared dictionary.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for storing inverted index based on an inverted file, the method comprising: creating an inverted file in a storage medium for storing the inverted index, the inverted file including a plurality of fixed-size index blocks, each of them including a plurality of fixed-size index units, wherein each index unit is used to store one piece of index information; and sequentially storing the index information related to each index item into the created inverted file, wherein the index information related to the same index item is stored in continuous blocks and the index units in each index block are only for storing index information related to the same index item. Since each index block is used only for storing index information related to the same index item, when performing operations on the index information in an index block, other index items are not affected, therefore, it is possible to on-line update index information in any index block.

Abstract: Path-based ranking of unvisited Web pages for WWW crawling is provided, via identifying all the paths beginning with a “seed” URL and leading to visited relevant web pages as “good-path set”, and for each unvisited web page, identifying the paths beginning from the “seed” URL leading to it as “partial-path set”; classifying all the visited web pages and labeling each web Page with the labels of a class or classes it belongs to; training a statistic model for generalizing the common patterns among all ones of “good-path set”; and evaluating the “partial-path set” with the statistic model and ranking the unvisited web pages with the evaluation results.
