  • Publication number: 20100028848
Abstract: This invention describes compositions and methods using siRNA to target various genes expressed in cells of transplanted organs or tissues and/or genes expressed in the host to improve the success of the transplantation.

  • Patent number: 6969469
Abstract: The present invention is a method of using crumb rubber from recycled tires as a filter media. The use of crumb rubber as a media differs from conventional sand or anthracite filters in several ways. The crumb rubber media is compressible which allows the porosity between rubber particles to decrease through the filter bed. The crumb rubber media compresses as headloss increases, allowing for better effluent quality late in the run. The crumb rubber media allows greater depth filtration. The crumb rubber media can be used at high filter rates, greater than 20 gpm/ft2. The crumb rubber media performs similarly to other traditional filter media in respect to turbidity and total suspended solids removal. The crumb rubber media properties are closely tied to media size and shape, with smaller media providing better effluent qualities and larger media allowing longer filter runs at higher flow rates.

  • Publication number: 20030104625
Abstract: The present invention relates to oncolytic adenoviral vectors and their use in methods of gene therapy. Provided is a recombinant viral vector comprising an adenoviral nucleic acid backbone, wherein said nucleic acid backbone comprises in sequential order: A left ITR, a termination signal sequence, an E2F responsive promoter which is operably linked to a gene essential for replication of the recombinant viral vector, an adenoviral packaging signal, and a right ITR.

  • Patent number: 6355415
Abstract: The present invention provides nucleic acid sequences and methods to define gene function. In particular, the present invention relates to reducing the levels of RNA encoded by a DNA sequence of interest using ribozymes. The present invention further relates to ribozyme sequences, recombinant expression vectors encoding ribozymes as well as host cells and transgenic organisms comprising such expression vectors, and the use of these compositions for the determination of gene function.
