  • Patent number: 9184958
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for encoding and transmitting codewords. A message is encoded in two encoders. For at least one of the two encoders, the message is algebraically modified prior to being encoded. In a specific example, the message is algebraically modified prior to being encoded in each of two traditionally non-systematic encoders, with the result that the output is equivalent to that of a turbo encoder.

  • Publication number: 20150124708
Abstract: A first radio connection is established between a first cell and a user equipment (UE). A network identity of a second cell is determined based on a first set of at least one network identity associated with the first cell, where the second cell is associated with a second set of at least one network identity. • Publication number: 20150085677
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for using band-limited subframes in wireless communication networks are provided. During the band-limited subframes, the macro cell base station may mute its transmission or transmit at a low power over some frequency sub-band, while transmitting at a normal or higher power over other frequency sub-band. Correspondingly, the small cell base station may communicate with UEs within its coverage at the frequency sub-band that the macro cell base station transmits at a low power. The band-limited subframe enables the small cell base station to communicate with the UE with reduced interference, and in the meantime, increases the throughput of macro cell base station as it does not require the macro cell base station to completely mute its transmission during the band-limited subframe.

  • Publication number: 20140355562
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for radio resource control (RRC) signaling in wireless communication networks with data offload are provided. The radio configuration messages from a small cell to a dual connection UE may be sent by an overlay macro E-UTRAN node-B (eNB). The small cell may send the RRC messages to the macro-eNB first via a backhaul link, and the macro-eNB then transmits the messages to the UE. In some implementations, the radio configuration messages from a small cell to a dual connection UE may be sent directly from the small cell. In some other implementations, some of the RRC messages may be sent selectively to/from either the macro-cell or the small cell, or to/from both the macro-cell and the small cell. The type of RRC messages sent over the small cell and/or the macro-cell may be preconfigured or predetermined.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting interleaver sizes for turbo codes is provided herein. During operation information block of size K is received. An interleaver size K? is determined that is related to K?, where K? from a set of sizes; wherein the set of sizes comprise K?=ap×f, pmin?p?pmax; fmin?f?fmax, wherein a is an integer and f is a continuous integer between fmin and fmax, p takes integer values between pmin and pmax, a>1, pmax>pmin, pmin>1. The information block of size K is padded into an input block of size K? using filler bits, if needed. Encoding is performed using the original input block and the interleaved input block to obtain a codeword block using a turbo encoder. The codeword block is transmitted through the channel.
