Publication number: 20230337269Abstract: Extended Reality (XR) applications may require high throughput and very low latency. New Radio (NR) Wireless receiver/transmitter units (WTRUs) running XR applications (XR-WTRUs) may be confronted with link failures when these applications are used in dense urban or indoor environments because of these devices operating in the millimeter band. Methods and devices are provided therefore for performing cell selection and beam management proactively to avoid link failure due to objects being in line of sight between the XR-WTRU and a network node with which it has established a connection. XR-WTRUs may therefore perform visual sensing that may enable visualizing current and future radio environment and using this information to prevent link failures by handing the XR-WTRU over to an alternative network node in line of sight of the XR-WTRU before the XR-WTRU is no longer in line of sight of the network node with which it has established a connection.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 1, 2021Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Jaya Rao, Yugeswar Deenoo Narayanan Thangaraj, Ghyslain Pelletier, Dylan Watts, Navjot Kaur, Benoit Pelletier

Publication number: 20230276320Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for communication by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) associated with a source cell. The WTRU is configured with a conditional reconfiguration which includes a trigger condition and a configured target cell. The WTRU detects an occurrence of an impairment event resulting in impairment to operation of the WTRU in the source cell. If the impairment event satisfies the trigger condition, a reconfiguration is performed with the configured target cell. If the impairment event does not satisfy the trigger condition, a target cell is selected based on a cell selection procedure, and if the WTRU is configured with a conditional reconfiguration for the selected target cell, a reconfiguration is performed with the selected target cell; and if the WTRU is not configured with a conditional reconfiguration for the target cell, a reestablishment is performed with the selected target cell.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2023Publication date: August 31, 2023Applicant: IDAC HOLDINGS, INC.Inventors: Yugeswar Deenoo, Mouna Hajir, Ghyslain Pelletier

Patent number: 11723106Abstract: Light and/or Inactive state connectivity and/or autonomous mobility techniques are contemplated. A WTRU may, for example, have an inactive/idle mode, a light connected/loosely connected/Inactive mode and/or a connected/fully connected/Active mode. A WTRU in light connected mode may have a WTRU context stored in a RAN. A WTRU may perform an area monitoring procedure while in light connected state. A WTRU may engage in autonomous mobility during light connectivity. A WTRU may move within a logical area (e.g., a RAN paging area), perhaps without notifying the network. The WTRU may provide notice when it has moved outside a logical area (e.g., update RAN paging area). Mobility in light connected state may be network controlled (e.g., to enable handover when data transfer may be allowed and/or ongoing). A WTRU may be reachable during a light connectivity state. A WTRU may engage in autonomous mobility during light connectivity and/or an Inactive state.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2017Date of Patent: August 8, 2023Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Yugeswar Deenoo, Ghyslain Pelletier, Ping Hsuan Tan, Martino M Freda

Patent number: 11716704Abstract: One or more techniques for beamformed paging are disclosed. A transmission/reception point (TRP) may transmit a paging inquiry signal using beam sweeping in a paging inquiry (PI) block with a different time, frequency resource set and/or sequence configuration associated with the same paging occasion (PO), for example, to randomize and/or distribute WTRUs into different monitoring groups. A WTRU may transmit an uplink paging inquiry response indicating a downlink beam for a paging data transmission and/or a WTRU ID. A downlink control and/or a data channel transmission may be triggered by a paging inquiry response transmission. Paging downlink control information may be transmitted in a WTRU-specific control channel, which may contain CRC bits masked by a temporary paging identity, e.g., based on a WTRU ID that may be reported in a paging inquiry response transmission. A WTRU paging procedure may be based on a paging inquiry signal and/or response transmission.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2021Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Tao Deng, Benoit Pelletier, Paul Marinier, J. Publication number: 20230199784Abstract: Transmit and/or receive beamforming may be applied to the control channel transmission/reception, e.g., in mmW access link system design. Techniques to identify candidate control channel beams and/or their location in the subframe structure may provide for efficient WTRU operation. A framework for beam formed control channel design may support varying capabilities of mBs and/or WTRUs, and/or may support time and/or spatial domain multiplexing of control channel beams. For a multi-beam system, modifications to reference signal design may discover, identify, measure, and/or decode a control channel beam. Techniques may mitigate inter-beam interference. WTRU monitoring may consider beam search space, perhaps in addition to time and/or frequency search space. Enhancements to downlink control channel may support scheduling narrow data beams. Scheduling techniques may achieve high resource utilization, e.g., perhaps when large bandwidths are available and/or WTRUs may be spatially distributed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2023Publication date: June 22, 2023Inventors: Yugeswar Deenoo, Tao Deng, Kyle Jung-Lin Pan, Moon-il Lee, Ravikumar V.
