  • Publication number: 20130278650
Abstract: In the present display device, LEDs are controlled to be lit up in an alternating manner where BG-LEDs (34) and BR-LEDs (35) are controlled to be lit up alternatingly every half of one frame period, such that only G display elements are used for display in a first subframe where the BG-LEDs (34) are lit up, and only B and R display elements are used for display in a second subframe where the BR-LEDs (35) are lit up. As a result, even in the case where crosstalk occurs (with respect to color filters of a certain color), display elements of colors for which such crosstalk can be inhibited or eliminated are simply used for display so that a reduction in color reproducibility can be inhibited or eliminated.

  • Patent number: 8029180
Abstract: A light unit, a backlight, a front light, and a display device, have a structure such that an uneven luminance generated in display is suppressed by radiating light in a sufficient amount even to an end portion of a display region, thereby uniformly radiating light in a sufficient amount to the entire display region, without a complicated structure. The light unit includes a light guide plate and a plurality of light sources, the plurality of light sources being arranged in a line to oppose at least one side surface of the light guide plate, wherein one or more light sources at at least one terminal among the plurality of light sources are positioned outside a lateral edge of a display region, and such a light unit is preferably used in a side-light type backlight or front light.

  • Patent number: 7894012
Abstract: A backlight device includes projections disposed on the back side of a light guide plate, and engagement holes engaging with the projections formed in a housing. The projections of the light guide plate are engaged with the engagement holes in the housing to prevent displacement of the light guide plate caused by vibration and impact. One surface of each projection is flush with a light incident surface, the area of that cross-section of each projection which is parallel or substantially parallel to the light incident surface is set such that it continuously decreases as the section is farther away from the light incident surface, and as a result, occurrence of a bright line and a dark line is prevented.

  • Patent number: 7864265
Abstract: In a lamp holder for holding an end section of a fluorescent lamp, a long groove is formed on a plane facing a light entrance plane of a light guide plate, in a same direction as the longitudinal direction of the light entrance plane, and a first hole is formed on a plane vertical to the light entrance plane, at a position below the bottom surface of the long groove, for inserting the end section of the fluorescent lamp.
