Memory circuitry is provided, sufficient to support a respective set of protocol features in each subsystem when at least one respective set of protocol features is smaller than the overall set of protocol features. Memory-sharing circuitry is provided, configurable to couple respective portions of the memory circuitry to the processing circuitry of respective subsystems. The memory circuitry and the memory-sharing circuitry may be outside the subsystems, or distributed within the subsystems. The memory may be 60% of an amount of memory sufficient to support the overall set of protocol features in all subsystems.

    Abstract: A dynamic temperature manager of a wireless system determines a threshold temperature defined by one or more operating parameters of the wireless system, the threshold temperature indicating a temperature in response to which power consumption of the wireless system is to be reduced. The dynamic temperature manager receives an indication of a temperature of the wireless system. A determination is made that the temperature exceeds the threshold temperature. The dynamic temperature manager provides an indication to cause a media access control (MAC) processing circuitry of the wireless system to adjust the one or more operating parameters of the wireless system to reduce the power consumption and the temperature of the wireless system based on the determination that the temperature exceeds the threshold temperature.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for phase-based cyclic redundancy check (CRC) verification for wireless communication. In some aspects, a soft phase value and a sliced phase value are received for a symbol of a data packet, the data packet received via a wireless interface. An error measurement is determined for the symbol based on the soft phase value and the sliced phase value. The error measurement for the symbol is then compared to an error measurement threshold for detecting symbol-level errors in the data packet. Based on the error measurement exceeding an error measurement threshold, a bit error can be detected in the data packet, which may have passed CRC. By detecting the bit error despite a CRC pass, the bit error can be indicated to higher-level entity of the wireless interface. This can be effective to prevent the bit error from impairing operation of the higher-level entity.

    Abstract: Apparatus for determining a signal-to-quantization-noise ratio of a quantization circuit includes a signal generator that generates an input test signal for input to the quantization circuit, circuitry for isolating, from output of the quantization circuit, a signal representing quantization noise, and circuitry for determining a ratio of the output of the quantization circuit to the signal representing quantization noise. The signal generator generates an analog test tone having a frequency, and the circuitry for isolating includes a notch filter filtering that frequency. Alternatively, the circuitry for isolating includes circuitry for generating a digital test signal, and a digital subtractor for subtracting the digital test signal from the output of the quantization circuit. According to another alternative, the circuitry for isolating includes a transformation circuit whose outputs represent a peak of the output of the quantization circuit and a noise floor of the output of the quantization circuit.

    Abstract: Improvements associated with determining a location of a station device are described. According to one improvement, a method is performed by a network device. The method includes receiving a response packet from a station device, multiple times, as received signals by switching between a plurality of antennas of the network device during reception of each occurrence of the response packet. The received signals are converted to corrupted orthogonal samples. The response packet is received from the station device a final time as a final response packet via a single antenna of the plurality of antennas. Ideal orthogonal samples are re-generated based at least in part on the final response packet. Signal phase information, embedded in the corrupted and ideal orthogonal samples, is converted into estimated locations of the station device.

Before hopping to a new channel, decision making circuitry can access the precalibrated curves. If the destination channel has an associated curve, then the system can use the values from that curve when hopping to a new channel. If the destination channel does not have an associated precalibrated curve, then the system can identify a closely situated channel with a precalibrated curve and use an offset value to settle at the destination channel. According to another aspect of the present invention, the offsets can be updated. According to a further aspect of the invention, the updated can be done dynamically.
