    Abstract: An airbag apparatus including an airbag is disclosed. The airbag includes a temporary joint that joins parts of the outer circumferential wall together in an disjointable fashion. The temporary joint includes a leading end that is so figured as to trigger disjointing. The airbag further includes a connecting element that extends from a vicinity of the leading end of the temporary joint and is disconnectably connected to an airbag housing or its vicinity by a distal end thereof. The connecting element is configured to be disconnected from the housing or its vicinity when an inner pressure of the airbag is increased. In an initial stage of airbag inflation, the connection of the connecting element to the housing or its vicinity helps suppress a tensile force acting on the leading end of the temporary joint such that the temporary joint is kept jointed and the airbag inflates in a small volume.
