  • Patent number: 6057835
Abstract: A window management system makes it possible to collectively control plural application programs by a common user interface, regardless of whether each program is so constructed as to respond to the message from the user interface. The system is provided with an acquisition unit for acquiring display information of the program, a collective operation instruction unit for instructing a collective operation to the program, a transmission unit for transmitting the instructed operation to the program and a display control unit for displaying the status of the instructed operation in a specified display area.

  • Patent number: 5926633
Abstract: When an object region of data has been assigned through an input unit, an object assigning unit writes the assigned object in a picture surface information region in an assigned object information region. When a cutting command has been input, the assigned region is stored in a nonshared clipboard region or a shared clipboard region according to instruction by the command. A shared clipboard is connected to shared clipboards of other systems via a shared clipboard communication unit. When a position has been assigned and a pasting command has been input, a pasting processing unit takes out data from an assigned clipboard, and connects the data to the assigned position. Thus, an operation of cutting and pasting data between systems is simplified.

  • Patent number: 5717793
Abstract: When enlargement processing is performed, binary image data inputted from a data line 100 is subjected to contour smoothing by a contour smoothing and enlarging circuit 2 and the data is enlarged by a factor of n (where n is an integer) in the main scanning direction and m (where m is an integer) in the subordinate scanning direction. When reduction processing is performed, the binary image data is outputted as is from a selector 6 to a multivalue-converting circuit 3 via a signal line 200. In the multivalue-converting circuit 3, the binary image is stored temporarily in a memory, the image data of any area is extracted, image data of multivalued density is calculated based upon a window outputted from a weighting table with reference to an area comprising a pixel of interest and its peripheral pixels, and the multivalued data is outputted to a variable-power circuit 4 via a signal line 300.

  • Patent number: 5675827
Abstract: A word processor having an arithmetic operation function has a character key keyboard for entering characters and numeric data and a function key keyboard for entering functions including operator codes of arithmetic operations. A numeral data to be arithmetically operated on is entered by the character key keyboard together with an operator code representative of an arithmetic operation to be executed on that numeric data, and the numeric data and the operator code are stored in a memory and displayed on a CRT screen so that the arithmetic operation required for the numeric data is identified on the CRT screen.

  • Patent number: 5644765
Abstract: An image-retrieving system for retrieving a desired image from a data base. A storage device in the data base stores a plurality of images, additional information for identifying each of the plurality of images and calculated feature data for identifying each of the images. A first input device inputs additional-information data for identifying a desired image stored in the data base. An additional-information selection device selects a first set of candidates as the desired image by comparing the input additional-information with the stored additional-information for each of the stored plurality of images. A second input device inputs an illustrative image, which is illustrative of the desired image, and a generation device generates feature data from the input illustrative image. A selection device selects as the desired image a one of the candidates whose stored feature data is most similar to the generated feature data of the input illustrative image.

  • Patent number: 5610999
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for converting multi-level image data into binary image data and an apparatus therefor. An average density is calculated from the already binarized density of pixels positioned in a predetermined area around an object pixel, and the threshold value for binarization is set by adding a fixed bias value and varying dither signals to the average density, and the error generated in the binarization is distributed to the unbinarized pixels positioned behind. The addition of the fixed bias prevents formation of a spot-free white area in the vicinity of an edge or in the initial stage of processing, and the addition of dither signals prevents texture formation in the low density area.

  • Patent number: 5586197
Abstract: A control unit controls an image searching system which performs a high quality search for a desired image in an image database by using color information. A sample image determined by an operator is used as a key to the search, and is input to a sample image input unit. A sample color information extraction unit extracts HSV color space data from the sample image, and an image color information extraction unit extracts HSV color image data from a plurality of images stored in the image database. A contribution factors deciding unit decides a contribution factor for each component in the HSV color space, and a candidate image deciding unit calculates a similarity between the plurality of images stored in the database and the sample image. Image candidates are determined based on the calculated similarity, and the image candidates are displayed on a display unit. The desired image is then selected from the displayed image candidates.

  • Patent number: 5502495
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an image processing method and apparatus for applying binarizing processing to multivalue image data so as to produce binary image data, reproducing an image having shades of light and dark based upon the binary image data, and outputting the image. On the basis of the value of the inputted multivalue image data, a search is performed to determine whether there is a pixel whose value is "1" at the periphery of each pixel of the binarized image data with regard to the image where the value of the image data is small, i.e., a highlighted portion of the image. A pixel defining an isolated point is detected through this search. Next, with regard to a pixel defining an isolated point of the binarized image, if a pixel whose value is "1" exists comparatively near this pixel, the value of this pixel of interest is diffused near the pixel. If a pixel whose value is "1" exists comparatively far from this pixel, the value of this pixel of interest is diffused far from the pixel.

  • Patent number: 4963996
Abstract: An image reading apparatus is disclosed which allows manual designation of the area to be read. This scanner accepts operator input to position the read head prior to actual scanning. Start and end positions are determined and then stored. The apparatus also displays characters and images such that images stored in memory can be displayed by identification codes in the same manner as characters.
