Abstract: A sheet guide apparatus for a printer comprises a printing head, a platen arranged in opposed relation to the printing head, sheet feed tractor arranged upstream of the platen in a sheet delivering direction, a plurality of guide elements arranged downstream of a delivering direction of a sheet passing between the printing head and the platen, along an axis of the platen with the guide elements spaced from a surface of the platen, wire rope and pulley system for moving the printing head axially of the platen, and control unit for controlling the wire rope and pulley system such that, after a forward end of the sheet transported by the sheet feed tractor has been abutted against sheet engaging surfaces of the respective guide elements, the printing head is reciprocated along the platen axis.

Abstract: A printer which is permitted to be mounted with an interface unit for connecting the printer to a computer, without the need of removing a printer case. A unit accommodating space (13) arranged to receive an extension interface unit and an integrated circuit card (50) is formed in the printer case (10) which is provided with a first connector (30) connected to a standard interface unit accommodated in the printer. The accommodating space defined by partition walls (14-17) is isolated from printer constituent parts, such as a controller printed-circuit board, disposed within the printer case.

Abstract: In a printer for printing information onto a recording medium, rotation of a platen in a normal direction causes the recording medium to be transported in a normal-feed direction. Rotation of the platen in a reverse direction causes the recording medium to be transported in a reverse-feed direction opposite to the normal-feed direction. Discharge rollers are arranged above the platen for rotation about an axis parallel to a longitudinal axis of the platen at respective peripheral speeds higher than that of the platen. A rotation transmitting mechanism is arranged between the platen and the discharge rollers for transmitting rotation of the platen to the discharge rollers.
