  • Publication number: 20060114762
Abstract: In a contents data recording medium according to the present invention, a plurality of pieces of contents data are recorded as individual files. The contents data recording medium includes: link information which indicates at least positions and sizes of the contents data on the contents data recording medium; metadata which describes contents of the contents data and is used for retrieval of the individual files; and a management file which includes the link information and the metadata. By use of the management file, an access device which accesses the contents data recording medium retrieves the contents data.

  • Publication number: 20050280838
Abstract: A printer has a display for selectively displaying a plurality of menu screens for setting various printing conditions. The menu screens include a standard menu screen and a specific-purpose menu screen. The standard menu screen includes a plurality of menus selectable for setting the printing conditions. The specific-purpose menu screen is, for example, a CD-R menu screen including some of the menus of the standard menu screen, or the menus related to printing conditions of a CD-R. The printer includes an insert opening into which the CD-R, or a printing medium, is inserted and a CD-R guide selectively opening or closing the insert opening. When the CD-R guide is open, the CD-R menu screen is automatically displayed on the display.

  • Publication number: 20050262125
Abstract: Block of a given data size are set as the unit of storing thumbnail structures to a thumbnail file. When a flag indicating a fixed length (constant) is set as flag information of a header (header for recorded thumbnails), the thumbnail file is controlled to store one thumbnail structure in one block. On the other hand, when a flag indicating a variable block length (a multiple of the block size) is set as the flag information, the thumbnail file is controlled to store one thumbnail structure in one block or over plural blocks. The data capacity of the unit block is set to the block size contained in the header.

  • Publication number: 20050232593
Abstract: The present invention provides a recording/reproduction device which allows reproduction with a small delay. The recording/reproduction device encrypts digital contents, and records the encrypted digital contents on a removable HDD unit. At the time of reproduction, the recording/reproduction device decrypts the encrypted digital contents recorded on the removable HDD unit. A contents key for decrypting the digital contents is input/output by executing a series of cryptography input/output processing actions. In the event that the removable HDD unit enters the state wherein the removable HDD unit can be used, the recording/reproduction device executes reproduction session establishment processing including device authentication processing beforehand. In the event that there are any sessions which can be established in parallel for executing cryptography input/output processing, recording session establishment processing is executed.

  • Publication number: 20050234832
Abstract: The present invention provides a recording/reproduction device which allows reproduction with a small delay. At the time of storing a program in a storage medium, the recording/reproduction device creates a contents key for encrypting the program data, encrypts the program data with the contents key, and stores the encrypted program data in the storage medium. Upon the user giving instructions for reproduction of the program which is being recorded, i.e., time-shift reproduction, the recording/reproduction device uses the same contents key already held for recording of the program. That is to say, the recording/reproduction device makes a copy of the license data including the contents key, reads out the encrypted program data from the storage medium, and decrypts the encrypted program data with the copy of the contents key, whereby the encrypted program data is reproduced. In this case, the step for reading out the contents key from the storage medium is omitted.

  • Publication number: 20050152672
Abstract: An information editing apparatus is provided which can prevent a thumbnail image, which shows the contents of recorded information recorded on an information recording medium, from being accidentally changed by a misoperation of the user. The information editing apparatus includes a deciding device 8 for deciding whether a thumbnail image can be changed or not based on change permission information, which indicates whether a change can be made on the thumbnail image showing the contents of recorded information recorded on a recording medium 1. When the deciding device 8 decides that a change is not permitted, a change of the thumbnail image is prohibited.

  • Publication number: 20040249993
Abstract: A controller of a recording device issues a secure command to a storage device, and then waits the time estimated necessary for the storage device to execute the secure command before issuing the next secure command. When a controller of the storage device is executing the previous command, it notifies the recording device of being in process. When the previous command has been completed normally, the controller moves to the next process. Information for estimating the execution time of the command is obtained from the storage device in advance.

  • Publication number: 20040250092
Abstract: A technology is provided to improve tamper resistance in encrypting data to be secured and inputting/outputting the data between a recording device and a host device. When the recording device issues an input/output command to a storage device to input/output data to be secured, the recording device attaches an ID to the command to identify to which cryptographic input/output processing the command belongs. Upon reception of a sequence command, the storage device receives the command if its ID has been allocated and the command is verified to have been issued in the correct sequence. The sequence ID is used to identify a process system while appropriately managing the steps of executing commands.

  • Patent number: 6816666
Abstract: There are described a data recording system, a data recording method, and a recording medium, all of which are directed to enabling easy editing of AV data without involvement of duplication of the AV data, as well as to eliminating a necessity for an additional data recording region. In the recording system, at the time of recording of primary data, there is prepared an original file which stores link data formed by arranging in sequence address data for reproduction purposes stored in a recording region on a recording medium. Further, through editing of the original file, there is prepared a virtual file which stores link data formed by arranging in sequence address data for reproduction purposes stored in the recording region on the recording medium. The data are reproduced according to these files.

  • Publication number: 20040105331
Abstract: A recording area of a hard disk is managed “unit” by “unit” where a “unit” is constituted by physically continuous recording regions having predetermined size, and usage status of the unit is stored in an allocation unit (AU) management table. Data requiring a real time processing is stored unit by unit. When the usage status of the unit is changed or modified due to the recording or deletion of data, the AU management table is updated and then information indicative of the fact that the AU management table has been updated is recorded. An apparatus where the final change is made is detected at the time the hard disk is inserted or a file system is initialized. And if the apparatus which last made the change adopts the file system which does not use the AU management table, then the table is reconfigured so as to retain the consistency of the AU management table.

  • Publication number: 20030154206
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to suppress fragmentation occurring due to repeated storing and deleting small capacity file data, while effectively storing large capacity real time file data. To achieve this object, according to the present invention, a block relying on a physical storage area, and a continuous plurality of the blocks, constitute a unit. The unit is set at a capacity at which real time processing is guaranteed. Image data or other such real time file data is stored with in units. Further, in a case of data processed in non-real time, the data is stored in blocks. A unit attribute table for managing the unit is arranged, and based on this unit attribute table, a determination is made as to whether or not the unit can be used at the time of storage.

  • Patent number: 5872933
Abstract: A recording apparatus includes an MPEG encoder, and compressed data from the MPEG encoder and data of an index (a transfer rate and a necessary memory capacity for the transfer rate, or a transfer rate and a rate difference characteristic) are multiplexed and recorded on an optical disc. In a reproducing apparatus, a bit stream read from the optical disc is converted into variable bit rate data by a CD decoder and a CD-ROM decoder. The variable bit rate data is once stored in a system buffer, and then, supplied to an MPEG decoder from the system buffer. The index is extracted by a microcomputer which determines whether or not it is possible to reproduce the optical disc through comparison of the necessary memory capacity and a capacity of the system buffer. If not reproduced, the optical disc is ejected. In a case of simple reproduction, data stored in an output buffer is repeatedly outputted during a time that an operation of the MPEG decoder is suspended.
