  • Publication number: 20020002837
Abstract: In a vehicle air conditioning system, a cold accumulator is disposed between a downstream air side of a cooling heat exchanger and an upstream air side of an air mixing door, to be cooled by cold air having passed through the cooling heat exchanger. Therefore, the cold accumulator can be readily cooled by the cold air from the cooling heat exchanger, while having a simple structure. Further, the cold accumulator is disposed at the upstream air side of the air mixing door, the cold accumulator can be effectively cooled without being affected by a rotation position of the air mixing door.

  • Patent number: 6330909
Abstract: In a vehicle air-conditioning system, an evaporator is disposed in an air-conditioning case to form a bypass passage through which air bypasses the evaporator, and an opening degree of the bypass passage is adjusted by a bypass door. When a vehicle engine operates, the system performs a cold-storing mode where cold quantity stored in condensed water on the evaporator is increased. On the other hand, when operation of the vehicle engine is stopped, the system performs a cold-releasing mode where air passing through the evaporator is cooled by cold released from frozen condensed water. During the cold-storing mode and the cold-releasing mode, temperature of air blown into a passenger compartment can be adjusted by adjusting the opening degree of the bypass passage. Thus, in the vehicle air-conditioning system, cold-storing quantity in the evaporator can be improved while power-saving effect of the vehicle engine is improved.

  • Patent number: 6213198
Abstract: An electric element (Peltier element composite) is disposed in a boundary between an outside air introduction passage and an inside air introduction air passage (114). The Peltier element composite absorbs heat from the inside air in the inside air introduction passage to cool and dehumidify the inside air and radiates heat to outside air in the outside air introduction passage. The inside air and outside air are blown out from a defroster air outlet through a second air passage. In this way, it is possible to increase an amount of introduced inside air and to improve the heating performance while maintaining the defrosting performance.

  • Patent number: 6205805
Abstract: A motor vehicle dehumidifier, including a dehumidifying drying agent, that can provide a required dehumidifying capacity with a reduced overall quantity of drying agent compared to conventional drying agent-based dehumidifiers. In the present invention, a heat exchanger is disposed on an upstream side of a drying agent unit, and heat is exchanged in the heat exchanger between inside air to be dehumidified and low-temperature outside air used to cool the inside air. The air cooled by the heat exchanger flows into the drying agent unit and is dehumidified. Because the air has an increased relative humidity as a result of being cooled, the amount of water adsorbed from it per unit of drying agent is increased, as the water adsorption characteristic of the drying agent is greatly influenced by the relative humidity of the air passing over it, and is markedly improved by an increase in the relative humidity of that air.

  • Patent number: 6131652
Abstract: An air conditioning apparatus for a vehicle includes a front air-conditioning unit for adjusting a temperature of air blown toward a front seat side in a passenger compartment, and a rear air-conditioning unit for adjusting a temperature of air blown toward a rear seat side in the passenger compartment. In the front air-conditioning unit, a ratio between an amount of air passing through a front heater core and an amount of air bypassing the front heater core is adjusted by an air mixing door, and the temperature of air blown toward the front seat side in the passenger compartment is adjusted by the rotation of the air mixing door. On the other hand, in the rear air-conditioning unit, a flow control valve for controlling a flow rate of hot water flowing into a rear heater core is provided, and the temperature of air blown toward the rear seat side in the passenger compartment is adjusted by the flow control valve.

  • Patent number: 6032869
Abstract: When the engine is stopped while the engine is warmed up, the cooling water in the engine stays therein without flowing out of the engine, and the cooling water in the radiator or the bypass passage is used for heating source for the heating operation. In this way, it is possible to heat the passenger compartment continuously even after the engine is stopped and to suppress the temperature of the cooling water from lowering to reduce the emission at restarting of the engine.

  • Patent number: 6016662
Abstract: A main evaporator cools a driver's compartment of a vehicle while a cooling storage evaporator cools cooling storage packs that are used in cooling a sleeping compartment. Refrigerant is supplied to the main evaporator at the actuation of a first solenoid valve while refrigerant is supplied to the cooling storage evaporator at the actuation of a second solenoid valve. If a first switch is being actuated after the completion of the cooling storage operation of the cooling storage evaporator on the cooling storage packs and the temperature of the cooling storage packs is no more than a preset temperature, for example, -5.degree. C., FIR control is performed for alternately actuating the first solenoid valve and the second solenoid valve based on a predetermined time ratio (for example, 10 minutes 15 seconds).

  • Patent number: 5836813
Abstract: An inside air/outside air switching case employing a rotary door, since an introduced air flows along an inner surface of a circumferential wall of the rotary door, an air flow guiding portion constructed of a plurality of protruding portions formed in a corrugated shape of concavities and convexities is formed on an inner surface of the circumferential wall of the rotary door. In this way, the air flow directed toward a suction inlet is made uniform by means of the guiding portion, and the air flow noise can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 5711368
Abstract: An evaporator is disposed substantially horizontally at a central portion of an instrument panel in a passenger compartment, and air is blown, by a blower disposed so as to be shifted from the center of the evaporator, so as to flow through the evaporator from the bottom to the top. A heater core is disposed substantially horizontally above the evaporator, and an air outlet mode switching portion for switching an air outlet direction of air, temperature of which is adjusted by the heater core, is disposed above the heater core. Foot air ducts are provided to supply conditioned air, a flow direction of which has been switched by the air outlet mode switching portion, to foot air outlets opening to a foot area of the passenger, and passage portions passing through an outlet side path of a scroll casing of the blower are provided in the foot air duct. In this way, it is possible to reduce the space where the heat exchanger portion is installed.

  • Patent number: 5644929
Abstract: A heat regenerating type cooling apparatus includes a heat regenerating evaporator encased in a case and provided with a tube for a cooling medium and a heat regenerating pack arranged to be in close contact with the outer surface of the tube of the heat regenerating evaporator. The heat regenerating evaporator conducts a refrigeration cycle while a vehicle is running and cools the heat regenerating pack so as to cause a heat regenerating material within the pack to freeze When the vehicle is parked, a blower is operated to cause a current of air that is cooled by the heat regenerating pack due to heat exchange between the current of air and the frozen heat regenerating material in the heat regenerating pack. The cold air is blown out into an objective cooling area, such as a sleeping area of the vehicle, from a blowing port so that the objective cooling area is air-conditioned, and the upper half of the body of a sleeping person in the area is effectively exposed to air-conditioned air.
