Abstract: The present invention provides a portable telephone comprising an openable/closable casing having a display 13a, a magnetic sensor 18b for detecting whether the casing is opened or closed, and a control circuit 10. When a message is received with the casing closed, the control circuit 10 displays the contents of the received message on the display 13a. When the casing in an opening state is thereafter detected, the control circuit 10 displays on the display 13a a reply-message-preparation screen for preparing a reply message to be sent to a sender of the received message.

Abstract: A technology for reducing the so-called “phosphor burn-in” phenomenon where the variation of luminance arises by reducing display luminance of a certain pixel caused by deterioration in a display apparatus constituted by an organic electro luminescence element is provided. In the display apparatus, when displaying an image acquired by an image acquiring unit, luminance substantially same as average luminance of the acquired image is set to a non-display area where the image is not displayed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a portable telephone which comprises a microphone 22 for speech transmission, cameras 3, 30 arranged on a casing, and a control circuit 10. The control circuit 10 varies the sensitivity of the microphone 22 in accordance with a photographing direction of one camera being operated.
