Abstract: An image processing device 3 is comprised of an image information acquiring unit 31, a variation calculating unit 32, and an environment detecting unit 34. The image information acquiring unit 31 continuously acquires an image of an object on a lateral side of a vehicle at predetermined sampling time intervals, the image being captured by each of cameras 2a and 2b mounted on the vehicle. The variation calculating unit 32 calculates an image variation from at least two images acquired by the image information acquiring unit 31. The environment detecting unit 34 detects a traveling environment in an area surrounding the vehicle from the image variation calculated by the variation calculating unit 32.

Abstract: A browser apparatus includes an information acquisition section for acquiring homepage data, a display section for displaying information, a shift direction input section for inputting a shift direction, a command input section for inputting a command, and a control section for displaying the homepage data acquired by the information acquisition section on the display section in response to a shift command indicating the shift direction input by the shift direction input section and the operation command indicating the operation input by the command input section. The control section has a plurality of operation modes, and assigns different functions to the shift direction input section and command input section in each of the operation modes as the functions of manipulating the homepage displayed on the display section. The browser apparatus is superior in operability, enabling the easy manipulation of a displayed window.

Abstract: A navigation system comprises a map information storage device for storing map data, a route setting device for setting a route between two points on the map data, target intersection detecting device for detecting a target intersection on the route from the set route and the map data, present position detector for detecting the present position of a mobile body, quantization computing device for quantizing the set route into simple graphics, and display for displaying the quantized route on a stepwise basis according to the distance between the nearest target intersection and the present position. The navigation system is capable of reducing the amount of distraction posed to a vehicle driver, is highly versatile and reduces the cost of the system.

Abstract: A method of navigating including decoding a position-information code represented by a string of codes including the latitude and the longitude of a position entered via an input means into original information on the position including the latitude and the longitude of the position. Information created from the recovered original information resulting from the decoding of the position-information code and map data read out from a map-information storage unit are presented to the user by using a display means and a sound outputting means.
